BOSTON (AP) — A Boston veterinary hospital got quite a surprise recently when a family brought in their bulldog after he stopped eating. The Angell Animal Medical Center found 19 baby pacifiers in the dog's stomach. It started in April when the Wellesley family noticed that their 3-year-old dog, Mortimer, started getting nauseous before meals. His owner, Emily Shanahan, brought Mortimer to the vet, who prescribed medicine to take care of the issue. But it didn't help and Mortimer eventually stopped eating entirely.Shanahan went to Angell, where they took an X-ray and discovered the pacifiers.Vets think Mortimer had been taking the pacifiers from Shanahan's two children over the course of months. The pacifiers were removed using a medical scope that did not require surgery. Mortimer recovered and is back at home. 827

BAY VILLAGE, Ohio — A priest in Bay Village says someone called police about a homeless person sleeping on a bench. It turns out it was actually a statue of Jesus. The sculpture was created by Timothy Schmalz, and depicts Jesus wrapped in a blanket and lying on a bench.Within 20 minutes of the sculpture's installation at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, police were called, according to the church's pastor, Alex Martin. He tweeted that an officer told him someone had called to report a homeless person sleeping on a park bench.Scripps station WEWS in Cleveland reached out to Bay Village police, who have not yet responded to a request for more information.According to the church's website, because Bay Village isn't impacted much by poverty, the statue is meant to remind residents how serious homelessness is in the world. The temporary installment will be on display until Dec. 1.The church is currently raising money to try and help the homeless. Martin says those interested in donating can do so here. 1016

Police in Nashville, Indiana say a DCS worker had taken Dorantes' child because she had repeatedly failed to pick up the child at the Brown County YMCA. Court documents show Dorantes waved a "viking style sword" at the DCS worker after they showed up to pick up items for the child. Police say Dorantes was also involved in two car crashes as she tried to find the worker. Dorantes faces the following charges: 709

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Buffalo police officers are no longer required to display their names on their badges after a change in departmental rules. Officers will now be required to wear badges that show a badge number instead. According to Mayor Byron Brown, the change was made about a week ago due to ongoing concerns for officer safety. Brown says officers have been subjected to online threats, targeting them and their families. 434
