(KGTV) — The jury deciding former NFL star Kellen Winslow Jr.'s fate in a rape trial, sent a note to the judge asking two questions.The questions lending a window into what's happening as the jury continues deliberating.10News spoke with Defense Attorney Gretchen Von Helms, to gain insight.On the surface, the questions seem obvious: "The jurors could benefit from an explanation as to what being under oath means. Yes, you're supposed to follow the law," Von Helms said.She said the note made her think the jury was not agreeing, "the jury's trying to be nice here and say there's one person who just doesn't want to follow the rules, that's what it sounds like."The first question, she said, could indicate questions the jurors have, "sometimes police officers have to take an oath to be a police officer and maybe they feel that the police officer didn't do their job and follow up correctly or maybe they feel that their definition of that oath is different from the jurors oath."In regards to the second question, she said "the gut versus law issue, they must follow the law, even if they don't like the defendant, even though some people may not want to convict him because he's a football legacy, you can't do that. WASHINGTON (AP) — Elizabeth Warren’s proposal to gradually move the country to a government-funded health care system has further inflamed the debate over “Medicare for All,” likely ensuring the issue will play a significant role in this week’s Democratic presidential debate.The Massachusetts senator announced Friday that her administration would immediately build on existing laws, including the Affordable Care Act, to expand access to health care while taking up to three years to fully implement Medicare for All. That attempt to thread the political needle has roiled her more moderate rivals, who say she’s waffling, while worrying some on the left, who see Warren’s commitment to a single-payer system wavering.The divide could complicate plans by Democrats to turn health care into a winning issue in 2020. WASHINGTON — U.S. health officials have started two new studies to test various blood thinners to try to prevent strokes, heart attacks, blood clots and other complications in COVID-19 patients.Doctors increasingly are finding blood clots throughout the bodies of many people who died from COVID-19 along with signs of damage they do to kidneys, lungs, blood vessels, the heart and other organs.National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute Director Gary Gibbons says that hospitals have been giving seriously ill patients anti-clotting drugs to try to prevent this, but “quite frankly, we didn’t know how best to treat it” in terms of which drugs or doses to use and at what stage of illness.The National Institutes of Health will coordinate a study in hospitalized patients comparing low and regular doses of the blood thinner heparin. The study will involve more than 100 sites around the world participating in a research effort with various governments, drug companies, universities and others to speed coronavirus therapies.A second study in COVID-19 patients not sick enough to need hospitalization will test various strategies against placebo pills: baby aspirin or low or regular doses of the anti-clotting drug apixaban, sold as Eliquis in the United States. The goal there is preventing blood clots or hospitalization.A third study starting later will test blood thinners for people who have recovered and no longer test positive for the coronavirus. VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - Charges were filed Tuesday against the San Diego County Sheriff’s deputy accused of groping a 14-year-old girl at a Vista restaurant.Prosecutors said Timothy Wilson, 32, was caught on surveillance camera at the Panda Express on Main Street March 21. Video shows Wilson entering the restaurant and grabbing the girl, according to investigators.A Sheriff’s Department employee recognized Wilson from the video and reported him.Wilson is charged with one felony count of lewd act with a 14-year-old, and one felony count of accessing a computer to take data, including the girl's home address. The girl's family lives near the Vista jail where Wilson works and now plans to move.The victim's mother, Janna Tanis, told 10News that her daughter is going to counseling, "She's still trying to process this all. It's very overwhelming; it's shocking and disappointing."A judge ordered Wilson to remain in custody in lieu of 0,000 bail. He is being held at the downtown jail, away from his co-workers at the Vista jail.
