(CNS) - The wind-driven Blue Ridge Fire in Yorba Linda that has burned 14,334 acres, destroyed a structure and damaged seven others was 16% contained Wednesday morning and the evacuation warning for the southern portion of Diamond Bar will be lifted, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.Some roads in the area have started to reopen -- one of two lanes will be open on southbound state Route 71 while crews fix a fire-damaged guardrail, and is expected to be completed by 4 p.m. Traffic was also being allowed on the SR 91 connectors to the 71, a Caltrans spokesperson said.Meanwhile, SR 142 remains closed from Chino Hills Parkway to Portola Parkway and the 71 southbound at Euclid Avenue off-ramps were also closed, Caltrans said.The estimation of burned acreage was lowered Tuesday night from about 15,200, according to Orange County Fire Authority spokesman Steve Concialdi. Wolverines have been spotted on Washington’s Mount Rainier, and it’s causing quite a stir.For the first time in more than 100 years, a mother and two offspring, called kits, were photographed in Mount Rainier National Park.“It’s really, really exciting,” said Mount Rainier National Park Superintendent Chip Jenkins in a statement from the National Park Service. “It tells us something about the condition of the park— that when we have such large-ranging carnivores present on the landscape that we’re doing a good job of managing our wilderness.”Scientists are hopeful that the sighting of a reproductive female and kits means wolverines may start returning to the park. Camera stations were installed in 2018 to photograph and identify wolverines based on their distinctive chest fur patterns. He then disconnected a stanchion at the checkpoint and approached a metal detector.The TSA officers didn't allow the man through the detector.Shameka Scott was traveling to Atlanta when she heard commotion and turned to see the naked man running past security.Scott says the man veered around the detector and made it to where TSA agents screen the bags after people walk through the detectors."I’m just shocked he got that far through TSA," she said. "I’m just grateful he did ‘t have a bomb or anything like that. With warmer weather and shorter winters, the ski industry is suffering.“We’re long passed the time when you can drive a Prius and say, ‘I’m doing what I can on climate,’” said Auden Schendler, senior vice president of sustainability with Aspen Skiing Company, one of the oldest ski resorts in the country.Schendler says with the planet warming due to greenhouse gas emissions, America has lost a month of winter since 1940, if you count winter as a day with frost. He predicts those numbers will get even worse, if the world doesn’t get a better grip on climate change."50% reduction in the season in certain locations by 2050 and 90% by end of century,” Schendler said. “If you loss the last half of March, because its suddenly super hot and people are playing golf, you’re going to go out of business.”While these environmental challenges are impacting ski town economies across the country, scientists say warming weather is also hurting people who never even hit the slopes.“Scientifically, changes have been happening really quickly and we’ve been able to see them intensify over the years, too,” said Twila Moon, deputy lead scientist with the National Snow and Ice Data Center.Her team’s research shows climate change has a trickle-down effect on some of our most important industries.“It does influence agriculture,” Moon said. “It influences water run off which impacts our drinking water.
