(CNN) -- A California rapid transit employee is being hailed as a hero for rescuing a man who fell onto the tracks as a train was approaching the platform.The dramatic rescue happened at the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station at the Oakland Coliseum after an NFL game between the Oakland Raiders and the Detroit Lions.Tony Badilla, a passenger who witnessed the episode, posted a video on Twitter of the two men hugging in the aftermath.He told CNN the employee, identified by BART as John O'Connor, was very attentive in keeping the crowd back from the tracks while helping riders find their train line. 615

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man police say rammed a patrol vehicle while holding a gun prompted an officer-involved shooting in North Park Saturday. The incident began around 9:20 p.m. when police received a call about a carjacking near Maryland Street and Madison Avenue. According to San Diego Police, the victim’s property, including a 2019 Subaru Outback, was taken at gunpoint. When officers tried to stop the vehicle, the driver, a 17-year-old boy, fled the scene, leading police on a chase. The pursuit ended when the suspect drove off the road at Arizona Street and Howard Avenue before putting the car in reverse and driving toward officers. While backing up, police say the 17-year-old slouched down in the driver’s seat, pointing a handgun at police and prompting an officer to fire his weapon at the suspect. The man continued to back up, slamming into a patrol car, police say.  CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A driver in a stolen car led officers on a pursuit through Chula Vista Saturday before officers were able to apprehend him in a tunnel, an officer said.Police received information Saturday morning that a car had been stolen from El Cajon as part of a burglary, and officers were notified before 10:15 a.m. that the car had been spotted at a home near View Park Way and East Palomar Street, Chula Vista Police Lt. Rusty Rea said.The car left as officers were heading to the house, and a pursuit ensued, with the driver leading officers north onto state Route 125, Rea said. Officers soon backed off as the driver continued to proceed recklessly on the freeway and allowed a police helicopter to keep an eye on him, he said.The car entered the tunnel on the transition road from northbound Route 125 to westbound Route 54 and the helicopter crew did not see it come out the other side, Rea said. Calls from passers-by confirmed the driver had stopped the car inside the tunnel and was trying to get away on foot.Police closed the tunnel and were able to arrest the driver, identified as 25-year-old David Felix. 1143

But now the gaming giant is getting into education.The company announced on Tuesday it is partnering with education nonprofit Institute of Play to bring its popular Switch gaming console and DIY Labo kits to 100 classrooms across the United States. The effort aims to help kids build communication and critical thinking skills in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM).The Nintendo Switch, which is both a handheld and home console, sold roughly 10 million units?after its launch. In January 2018, the company introduced Nintendo Labo, series of DIY projects that allows kids to build things such as an RC car, a fishing rod and a piano out of cardboard. These cardboard figures are used with Switch video games and can tech basic programming skills through its Toy-Con Garage feature.Nintendo is bringing the products to 100 schools nationwide for kids ages 8 to 11. A pilot program has already brought kits to 11 schools in the New York City Tri-State area. The program will run through March 2019.Interested schools can also apply to participate.
