(KGTV) -- The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a man who disappeared from a care facility.The department tweeted just after 1 p.m. that 36-year-old Berhane Piong went missing from the facility on the 2220 block of Bosna Place in Vista.Piong has a developmental disability and has the living and decision-making skills of a 12-year-old, authorities say. He will only respond when called by Berhane.Piong was last seen wearing his favorite camouflage hoodie jacket, black sweatpants and blue sneakers.Anyone who spots him is asked to call 911. 586

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Between the hustle and bustle of serving hungry customers at Commune in Virginia Beach, you'll find small pops of beauty.That beauty took a new form on Friday when Dan Pew walked through the doors.He was visiting from Ohio with his fiance and said he wanted to spread love and positivity during his time in the Resort City.A few days before vacation, he was scrolling through the social media platform Tik Tok when he came across posts about the Venmo Challenge.It encourages people to give back to their community."You ask your social media followers - [it can be] your friends, your family, or businesses or anybody and you say 'hey if you want to donate through Venmo Challenge tag 'the awesome human being' or 'for the food service worker' and then you donate and then you surprise a food service worker with a tip," Pew said.Pew was inspired by the videos of people surprising waiters and waitresses, so he took the plea to his followers on social media.In a message he said, "We're going to Virginia Beach for vacation this week and we want to surprise a food service worker with a huge tip."After putting the challenge out there, the internet got to work. Pew racked up hundreds of dollars in his Venmo account in just a few days.Then on Friday, after being helped by Aubrey Seykerbuyk at Commune, Pew pulled out 0.Seykerbuyk recalled the moment that made her jaw drop to the ground, "He had like a wad of cash and started counting it out in front of me and I honestly didn't know like what was happening. I didn't know if it was like a social experiment to see if I would take it or not."It was no experiment. "My vision has been clouded by so much negativity just by everything going on recently and that little glimmer of kindness that I received yesterday was just enough to remind me that there is still good people, there are still good people in this world and we need more of them."Even better, the other servers got a piece of the pie.Chelsey Miller is the front house manager at Commune who was working when the surprise took place."We all tip share so it kinda went to all of us and they didn't even realize that was going to be the case either so it was really awesome," she said. WASHINGTON (AP) — An inmate at a federal jail in New York City has tested positive for coronavirus, marking the first confirmed case in the federal prison system. The federal Bureau of Prisons says the man is housed at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn and complained of chest pains on Thursday, a few days after he arrived at the facility. Officials say he was taken to a local hospital and was tested for COVID-19. The inmate was discharged from the hospital on Friday and returned to the jail, where he was immediately placed in isolation. VISTA (CNS) - A 24-year-old man was behind bars today for reportedly crashing his car into a freeway work zone in the far northern reaches of San Diego County while drunk, injuring himself along with two construction crew members.Ross Rodgers, 24, was headed south on Interstate 15 near Mission Road in the unincorporated Rainbow community about 10:50 p.m.Sunday when his 2008 Toyota Prius veered over traffic cones and entered the closure area, where it hit the back end of a stationary 2008 Ford F-250, according to the California Highway Patrol.A worker behind the wheel of the pickup truck and a second one on foot nearby suffered apparently minor injuries in the wreck.Medics took the two men, ages 30 and 36, to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido for evaluations, CHP Officer Kevin Smale said. Rodgers was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and transported to the same hospital for treatment of a broken bone in his right foot.Upon his release from medical care, the San Diego resident was booked into the county jail in Vista on suspicion of felony DUI.The crash led to intermittent closures of parts of the freeway in the area until about 5 a.m., Smale said. 1186

"Upon launch, Aurora Station goes into service immediately, bringing travelers into space quickly and at a lower price point than ever seen before."Astronaut experienceWhile a million trip is outside the budget of most people's two-week vacations, Orion Span claims to offer an authentic astronaut experience.Says Bunger, it has "taken what was historically a 24-month training regimen to prepare travelers to visit a space station and streamlined it to three months, at a fraction of the cost."During their 12-day adventure, the super-rich travelers will fly at a height of 200 miles above the Earth's surface in Low Earth Orbit, or LEP, where they will witness incredible views of the blue planet.The hotel will orbit Earth every 90 minutes, which means guests will see around 16 sunrises and sunsets every 24 hours.Hometown heroActivities on board include taking part in research experiments such as growing food while in orbit -- which guests can take home for a super-smug souvenir -- and soaring over their hometown.Guests can have live video chats with their less-fortunate loved ones back home via high-speed wireless Internet access and, upon return to Earth, will be greeted with a specially arranged hero's welcome.While enjoying the thrills of zero gravity, the travelers will be able to float freely through the hotel, taking in views of the northern and southern aurora from the station's windows.Deposits are already being accepted for future stays on the space hotel.
