SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - This week, a massive Mola mola fish stunned whale watchers in San Diego.The fish is a unique sight, appearing to look like a giant fish head with fins. It's also known as the sunfish. Domenic Biagini, owner and captain of Gone Whale Watching San Diego, says they specialize in giving people once in a lifetime encounters. "Whenever I give my opening spiel, I tell them I'll show them anything that moves," said Biagini.RELATED: Thar she blows! He believes the one they spotted was 7 to 8 feet. "When we came across this specific one, we were kind of blown away by the sheer magnitude of it," said Biagini.Biagini happened to have divers on his boat that day, who told him mola is one of the prized fish to swim with. Friday, March 1, the university will host a special birthday party for the author, which coincides with National Read Across America Day. The celebration will include cake, carnival games, a read-a-thon, giant inflatable Suess characters and, of course, a selfie station.The event will also include a reading from “Happy Birthday to You!” in honor of the classic book's 60th anniversary. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The woman who stole a car with two children inside before driving to the U.S-Mexico border in 2018 has been sentenced to 13 years in prison. Police say Leslie Esparanza Saenz, 27, stole a car with an 8-year-old and 3-year-old inside outside a Cricket Wireless store on the 200 block of Euclid Avenue April 9, 2018. According to police, the children’s father parked the gold Hyundai Excel outside the store and went into the business by himself, leaving the vehicle unlocked. Moments later, Saenz got into the car and drove off on Imperial Avenue. There, federal agents who had gotten a be-on-the-lookout bulletin regarding the auto theft and kidnapping took the driver - who was later identified as Saenz -- into custody without incident. Authorities then reunited the children, who had suffered no injuries during the ordeal, with their father and returned his car to him, Roman said. 1096

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The widow of a fallen firefighter is opening up about giving birth without the love of her life by her side.Cal Fire Firefighter Engineer Cory Iverson died battling the Thomas Fire in Ventura County in December.His wife, Ashley, was pregnant with their second daughter at the time. Taylor Ivy Frances Iverson was born just a few weeks ago."She looks just like this little twin, especially right after she came out it was a big relief to have her out and to see him again and feel like I was looking into his eyes again," said Ashley.It's been five months since Cory died, but Ashley said it still doesn't seem real. "People will say to me, I can't possibly imagine going through that, and my response is neither can I, cause it really doesn't feel like it's me going through all of this," said Ashley.She was surrounded by family and friends in the hospital the day Taylor was born, but it was the voicemail she played from her late husband while in the delivery room that helped her get through labor."All the doctors were crying, but it just flipped right then and there. It's the most special voice mail I have from him basically talking about how special our relationship is and how grateful he is for us," said Ashley.Ashley wants to honor Cory's memory by starting a foundation to help first responders deal with the trauma they see on the job."The things that they see and experience are things that the human brain can't just push out, it needs to be worked through," said Ashley.As heartbroken as she is, she's always thinking about the men and women who were on the fire lines with Cory the day he died."Through trust and communication, these men and women can heal," said Ashley.
