Police have apprehended a suspect in Phoenix after a lengthy pursuit on Tuesday afternoon. According to Phoenix police, the vehicle in the pursuit was part of an armed robbery investigation. At one point during the pursuit, the suspect carjacked a woman in Tolleson, Arizona.Watch chase in video player below.  333

Police in Osceola County, Florida said a man was locked up after he was accused of trying to kill sex offenders.Officers said he tried to set the men on fire.Jorge Porto-Sierra has been formally charged with four counts of attempted premeditated murder.Osceola County detectives said the 50-year-old confessed to deputies he tried to kill multiple people at the Friendly Village Inn on Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway.After his March 7 arrest, Porto-Sierra said he arrived at the motel to "barbecue all the child molesters on fire and kill them."WESH 2 News in Orlando confirmed at least two of the four victims are convicted sexual offenders.Witnesses told deputies Porto-Sierra made several threats, screaming, "I'm going to kill you, child molester," and allegedly began throwing gasoline on their front door.Porto-Sierra is accused of breaking a hotel window to pour gasoline inside.Witnesses said he was carrying a cigarette the whole time.Another couple said Porto-Sierra rammed their car and poured gas on it.When asked by deputies why he did not carry out his threats, Porto-Sierra said, "You got here too soon."Porto-Sierra remains behind bars at the Osceola County Jail.He's being held on no bond.  1219

Police detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a skydiver in Zephyrhills, Florida.Management at Skydive City told Tampa-based WFTS, the skydiver was experienced and had a properly working parachute and reserve parachute. "(The skydiver) hit the ground at full speed and were killed on impact, instantly," said General Manager TK Hayes. Hayes said neither the main parachute or reserve were pulled. It was the second to last jump of the night. The skydiver broke away from a group dive, landing at the edge of the 100-acre property. "It's definitely a mystery," said Hayes. "We've had a preliminary investigation with the detectives out there and looked at the equipment, we can't see anything particularly wrong with it."Hayes said the skydiver was not using an automatic activation device, which deploys the parachute at 700 feet if still in free-fall. That piece of equipment is not required for licensed skydivers. "It's just a sad day for the community, there's nothing we can do about that now that that's happened other than hopefully we learned something from it," he said. Skydive City sees about 70,000 jumps per year. According to Hayes, it has been a couple years since they've experienced a fatal jump. At this time, police have not released the skydiver's name, pending next of kin notification.  1424

PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Whether you're a cat person or a dog person, this story is sure to warm your heart. It has a sad start, but a heartwarming end.The Sunshine Dog Rescue based out of Phoenix rescued a dog they have named "Georgia", an Australian Shephard Mix, found living at a gas station near the US-Mexico border, by Rocky Point.They quickly learned Georgia was pregnant. Sadly, none of Georgia's puppies survived. They were all born prematurely. Anita Osa, founder of Sunshine Dog Rescue, says Georgia was heartbroken after losing all of her babies."I've never had a mom dog lose a whole litter before. The best way I could describe it was she was frantic. It was so sad, she was looking for those babies. She tore up the toddler mattress we had her on, trying to find her babies," said Osa.Hoping to start Georgia down the path of healing, Osa put out a call for help on Facebook, looking for any animals that needed a lactating mother dog. What she ended up with was a trio of newly orphaned kittens, who also needed a mother.Osa said she initially wondered if a dog would accept kittens as her babies, but she was surprised to see the instant bond they formed."I introduced them to her gently. I first bought one out and let her sniff it, and she seemed to accept it, so I brought the others out. It's amazing to see how she instantly calmed down," said Osa."I think for the kittens, they have no idea that Georgia is a dog," she added.Georgia is even allowing her new kitten kids to nurse on her, although her milk production is low."They do nurse on her. She cleans them and everything but the bond is strong. It's really something to see, she protects those kittens just as if they were her babies," said Osa. 1726

POINT LOMA, Calif., (KGTV)— Rainy conditions did not deter thousands of people from participating in the Second Annual Walk Against Hate-San Diego. “I walk for peace and for equal rights for people,” a pre-teen participant said. Three thousand five hundred people joined the Anti-Defamation League’s biggest event of the year, walking to show that San Diego is no place for hate. “Especially in the aftermath of something that is so tragic happening to our community,” ADL-San Diego’s Director of Development, Lindsey Zipkin said. Still fresh in the minds of participants is the Poway Synagogue Shooting on April 27, 2019. Zipkin said there was a huge jump in registration, right after the tragedy.“It gives people a really great way to come together to support one another and to celebrate diversity and respect. And really show that this is really what San Diego is about. No place for hate and not that terrible things that just happened to us,” Zipkin said. 10News also spoke to 15-year-old Nadiv Meltzer, who said the incident opened up a serious dialogue at home. His father, Rabbi Scott Meltzer, talked to him about overcoming bias and hate. “I think it’s not ideal that we needed such as an exhibition of hate and violence to get people together, but I think it’s important that people do get together,” Meltzer said.
