Four people were killed and six more wounded when “unknown suspects” sneaked into a backyard filled with people at a party in central California and fired into the crowd, police said. The shooting took place about 6 p.m. on the Fresno’s southeast side, where people were gathered to watch a football game, Fresno Police Lt. Bill Dooley said.Deputy Chief Michael Reid told the Fresno Bee and the KSEE/KGPE TV stations that a total of 10 people were shot, with three found dead in the backyard. A fourth person died at the hospital. Six others are expected to survive and are recovering at the hospital. All the victims were Asian men ranging from ages 25 to 35, Reid said.“What we do know is that this was a gathering, a family and friend gathering in the backyard,” Dooley said. “Everyone was watching football this evening when unknown suspects approached the residence, snuck into the backyard and opened fire.”The victims were taken to Community Regional Medical Center in critical condition, and some are now stable, the TV stations reported.About 35 people were at the party when the shooting began, Reid said.“Thank God that no kids were hurt,” he said.No one is in custody in connection with the shooting. Police said there was no immediate indication that the victims knew the shooter or shooters.Police were going door-to-door in search of surveillance video that might help them track down the suspects. The shooting took place about a half-mile from the city’s airport.Agents from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives field office in San Francisco were responding to the shooting, the Bee reported. It was at least the second fatal gun attack Sunday in southeast Fresno, the Bee reported. A man in his 20s was shot to death early Sunday at a home in another part of the city. Police have not said whether the incidents could be connected.Sunday’s shootings in Fresno also come on the heels of at least two mass shootings in California. Former FBI Director James Comey counts himself among the many people questioning why special counsel Robert Mueller did not make a determination on whether President Donald Trump obstructed justice."I'm not prejudging it -- I'm just saying it doesn't make sense on its face, and so I have a lot of questions," Comey said in an interview that aired Wednesday on NBC's "Nightly News."He said he felt both Mueller and Attorney General William Barr "are entitled to the benefit of the doubt," but that he was surprised and confused by the choice.Mueller, Comey's predecessor as head of the FBI, was appointed to lead a special counsel investigation in the wake of Comey's firing, and a portion of the probe was dedicated to investigating if Trump had committed obstruction of justice. But 795
Facebook will unveil a new policy on Wednesday to restrict sales and limit content related to alcohol and tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, a company spokeswoman tells CNN.The new policy will prohibit all private sales, trades, transfers and gifting of alcohol and tobacco products on Facebook and Instagram, the spokeswoman said. Any brands that post content related to the sale or transfer of these products will have to restrict that content to adults 18 or older. The new policy will go into effect Wednesday and will also apply to any Facebook groups created to sell alcohol or tobacco products, the spokeswoman said. The social network is reaching out to group administrators to alert them of the changes. The company is enforcing the new rules, the spokeswoman said, and may remove any groups that do not make necessary changes. While the company's policies already prohibit the sale of tobacco and alcohol in Facebook Marketplace, the platform is extending its ban to "organic content" -- regular posts from private users. The company will "use a combination of technology, human review and reports from our community to find and remove any content that violates these policies," the spokeswoman said.Facebook and Instagram users, including those under 18, are still free to post other content related to tobacco and vape products.Under the new policy, so-called influencers who are paid to promote nicotine-containing products will also be allowed to post content related to tobacco and vape products. Those posts will not have to be age restricted, the spokeswoman said. She emphasized, however, that the company is considering possible changes to its influencer policy and is working with industry and regulatory bodies on potential revisions.Last year, a CNN investigation detailed how Juul, the largest vape manufacturer in the United States, paid popular Instagram users to promote its device. The company has come under fire in recent months for its alleged role in what experts call an "epidemic" of teen vaping. In 2018, the FDA announced that vaping increased nearly 80% among high schoolers from the previous year.Juul executives will testify this Thursday at a congressional 2211
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A grandmother in Hillsborough County, Florida, is facing several charges after she caused a crash that killed her 10-month-old granddaughter, according to Florida Highway Patrol. According to an accident report, Helen Mention, 50, was drunk when she crashed into a guardrail on Friday, Oct. 25 at 9 a.m. Her blood alcohol level was .225, FHP says. That's nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08. Troopers say Mention was driving with 10-month-old Harlem Mention on her lap.
