LOS ALGODONES, Mexico — Just a few miles west of Yuma, Arizona, you’ll find a small but busy town just across the border — Los Algodones, Mexico. You’ve probably never heard of it, but people will travel thousands of miles to visit. Angela Luck flew from Alaska. “To San Diego, got a rental car, drove to Yuma, overnighted there. Drove here,” Luck said. She does it to save hundreds — if not thousands — of dollars on dental work. And she's not alone in doing it. Every day millions of people are expecting a letter or package in the mail. The U.S. Postal Service has a feature that lets you see what’s coming to its customers' mailboxes and when — but it's allowed thieves to find ways to intercept valuable personal information.Informed Deliveryallows users to preview mail with digital images through email notifications, an online dashboard, or a mobile app.Users can sign up for Informed Delivery online or at any post office More than 13 million people have signed up for the service. However, the USPS says that in a few cases, people’s identities have been compromised. One woman in Palm Beach County, Florida who was granted anonymity for this story says it started with a simple walk to the mailbox. The woman first learned she was the victim of identity theft last Fall, and she claims scammers also tried stealing her mail last month.I She says she received a notification that she had signed up for Informed Delivery in her mailbox, even though she had never signed up for the service. Later, she received a Jet Blue credit card in the mail, for which she had also not signed up. She said she also received an alert from Bank of America about a second credit card that she had no knowledge of."Then, at that point, I said, 'OK, there’s something going on here,'" she said.USPS released this statement: In a very few cases, an individual’s identity has already been compromised by a criminal who then has used it to set up an Informed Delivery Account. "Then they are aware of when that credit card may be coming to your mailbox," the woman said.Luckily, she was able to intercept the credit card before the scammers did. Reporters referred the woman to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, which is now investigating. The woman is now taking extra precautions, actively monitoring all her accounts, and she installed a new mailbox with a lock inside."You helped to put me in touch with somebody who I felt really cared about what’s going on, because this is a serious matter. It’s really bad,” she said.Creating a fraudulent account is illegal.Customers have two options to report a potentially fraudulent Informed Delivery account (or block your address): 2233

At the Good Times Burgers & Frozen Custard in Denver, Colorado, this robot, Holly, is working the morning rush. Holly is cutting the drive through time by 10 to 15 seconds. For 20 years, worker Orlina has been taking orders and serving up food. She says Holly is one of the most helpful employees on staff. “It’s really fast and helps us with the speed a lot,” she says. The creator behind this artificial intelligence technology is Valyant. Rob Carpenter, the CEO of the company, says as jobs evolve and change, new jobs become available. As with most new technology, Carpenter says they’re still working out all the kinks. “It’s almost understanding the almost infinite ways to that people can ask for a cheeseburger,” Carpenter explains. “There are also the different accents you have to content with and the background noises.” While customers find the idea of Holly fun, their still unsure. “It was awkward,” says one customer. “And humans are just better and more responsive and talkative.” Carpenter admits Holly isn't the perfect employee, but he says in the next five years, you will see more robots at big name stores and fast-food restaurants."Right now, this is ground zero handling drive through,” he says. “Eventually, we are going to start seeing it in more tangible ways, where it can actually carry on a more fluid conversation." Carpenter says the opportunities are limitless. 1410

MIAMI, Fla. — Miami-Dade County will have a countywide curfew as the surge of the coronavirus continues in Florida.Mayor Carlos Gimenez has signed the order for the curfew. Starting Friday, July 3, the county will have a 10 p.m. curfew until 6 a.m.Essential workers, first responders, hospital workers, food delivery services and media will be exempt from the curfew.Mayor Gimenez is also rolling back the reopening of entertainment facilities such as movie theaters, arcades, casinos (with the exception of tribal casinos), adult entertainment, concert houses, bowling alleys and other places that have recently had their plans approved by the county. That order will be signed later on Thursday.People who go to restaurants will have to keep their masks on while seated at the table. They will only be allowed to take the masks off only to eat and drink. Mayor Gimenez says if you are waiting for your meal, keep the masks on while you are having a conversation. Hospitals are also experiencing an uptick in patients, and medical professionals are seeing a rise in 18 to 34 year olds who are getting sick, Gimenez said.At this time, hospitals still have plenty of beds, but some are experiencing staffing shortages. "The death of an 11-year-old boy, reported today by the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County, should send a signal to all of our community that this virus can attack anyone without mercy," Gimenez said. As the Fourth of July weekend approaches, Miami-Dade police will be checking out thousands of businesses and close those that violate the rules and capcatiy limits. Owners will face criminal fines of up to 0 and 180 days in jail."I do not want to go back to closing all but essential businesses, but the only way to avoid that is for everyone to take COVID-19 seriously. That means every generation - everyone of us, no exceptions," Gimenez said. This article was written by Lisette Lopez for WFTS. 1957
