A video appears to show a Westland Police Officer using a Taser on a man as he is holding his two-month-old baby. The incident happened on Friday night where neighbors were having a barbecue. Witnesses said police arrived because of a call about a fight. “We were just barbecuing, and we saw the cops come up,” neighbor Kelvin Williams said. “They came up and asked us who was fighting. We were like, ‘You got the wrong house.’”Williams said they didn’t understand what the officers meant. “At that point, my friend Ray got a little agitated like you’re coming over to my house, my property and you're asking me about something I don’t know about,” Williams said. According to witnesses, Ray Brown then began to argue with officers. Williams said that is when he decided to record video on his cell phone. In the video, officers told Brown was going to be arrested, then ordered Brown's son to be taken away from the scene. “That’s my child. He can be exactly where he’s at. Give me my child. Give me my child,” Brown said. Officers then crowd into Brown with a taser out. Nichole Skidmore, Brown’s girlfriend, and mother of two-month-old Christopher tried to take the baby.It appears in the video that Brown was still holding Christopher and in the process of passing him to Skidmore when officers deployed a Taser. “I had to catch the baby," Skidmore said. "I was in the street talking with the cops. I had to come over. The taser is on this side of him, and the baby is over here. As soon as they start tasing him the baby flew out of his hands and I had to grab him, or he would have fell.”Brown was arrested and placed in custody soon after that. According to a Facebook post by the Westland Police Community Partnership, Brown attempted to grab his child only after learning he would be arrested. The department says that officers chose to deploy a Taser due to the "close quarters," and that the child was also in the hands of the mother at the time the Taser was used.The Community Partnership also stated that a "thorough internal investigation" would be conducted.  2158

A mother in Clarksville, Tennessee has been charged after the death of her 4-month-old daughter.Officials said they responded to a home in the 200 block of Orleans Drive after 11:30 a.m. Saturday on a call of an unresponsive child.Officers found the 4-month-old not breathing. They performed CPR, and the baby was taken to Tennova Hospital where she failed to regain consciousness and passed away.Detectives investigated the infant’s death leading to a criminal homicide charge against the baby’s mother, 25-year-old Sarah Danielle Scribner.A witness, identified in a police affidavit as Aeriel Shiraef, told authorities Scribner called her and said she'd done something bad. Scribner allegedly told Shiraef she had stopped the baby from crying by putting her hand over the infant's mouth. She added the infant was no longer breathing.Scribner was booked into the Montgomery County Jail.  916

A New Jersey man who won a 8 million Powerball jackpot in 2013 has been charged with sexually assaulting a child.According to NJ.com, Pedro Quezada of Wayne, was charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.Prosecutors say Quezada assaulted the victim for three years when the child was between the ages of 11 and 14 when he lived in nearby Passaic.Quezada won a 8 million jackpot in March 2013 when he purchased the winning ticket at a Passaic liquor store. He took his winnings in a lump sum, meaning he took home 1 million after taxes.At the time of his win, Quezada told CNN the money would not “change his heart.”At the time of his Powerball victory, CNN reported that Quezada was married with five children. However, it was later revealed that Quezada was not actually married — though the woman who he claimed was his wife sued him, saying the lottery ticket was purchased with the couple’s shared assets. A Vero Beach, Florida family woke up to a man stomping on their roof, the Indian River Sheriff’s Office says. When deputies arrived, they say Jacob Futch claimed he was having a meeting with a DEA agent on the roof.The family told deputies that they don’t know Futch, and Futch admitted to not knowing who the agent is, according to an arrest report. A man living in the home told deputies he and this three young sons woke up to Futch yelling, howling and walking down the road around 6 a.m. on Nov. 11.Two hours later, the man says they woke up again after hearing Futch on the roof of his home.When Futch was asked if he was under the influence he said he had injected meth at approximately 2 a.m., an arrest affidavit states.Futch is facing a misdemeanor charge of trespassing.
