GRANITE BAY, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a federal prosecutor in California fatally shot his wife before killing himself in their home. The Placer County Sheriff's Office says it is investigating Sunday's murder-suicide of Timothy Delgado and his wife Tamara Delgado. Timothy Delgado was an assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of California. A search of the office's website shows that Delgado appears to have prosecuted narcotics and firearms cases. The U.S. Attorney's Office says it is cooperating with the investigation. Tamara Delgado's mother called the sheriff's office to check on the couple, bringing deputies to their home. 660

Former Penn State football player Isaiah Humphries has filed a federal lawsuit, claiming that other members of Penn State’s football team hazed him and the coaching staff was aware of it, ESPN reported. Humphries’ suit is against Penn State head coach James Franklin and former teammate Damion Barber. Humphries claimed that other teammates, including Barber, Micah Parsons, Yetur Gross-Matos, Jesse Luketa brought on the hazing, ESPN reported. Among the allegations, ESPN reported that Humphries alleged that players “facilitated a campaign to harass and haze underclassmen” on the team. Humphries claimed that a member of the team said "I am going to Sandusky you."Jerry Sandusky was a former Penn State coach convicted of sexually abusing children while on university property. Many university officials, including former head coach Joe Paterno were fired in the wake of the Sandusky scandal.Penn State released a statement to ESPN noting that no charges were filed. "The university has established processes in place for responding to claims of potential misconduct. In accordance with our processes, the Office of Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Response and the Office of Student Conduct carried out investigations of the plaintiff's claims independent from Intercollegiate Athletics," the school said. "In addition, Penn State police investigated related allegations and forwarded the results of that investigation to the Office of the Centre County District Attorney. House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows, one of President Donald Trump's closest allies, on Wednesday described Trump's resolve to hold out for billion in border wall funding as "very firm" as the partial government shutdown entered its fifth day.Having spoken to the President since Saturday, the North Carolina Republican described Democrats as "misreading" Trump if they thought he would compromise on funding for the wall."I can tell you, if they believe this President is going to yield on this particular issue, they're misreading him, misreading the American people," Meadows told CNN's Manu Raju on "Inside Politics."Trump, speaking to reporters hours later during a trip to Iraq to visit US troops, indicated his position had not changed.Asked how long the shutdown would last, the President responded that it would go on for "whatever it takes" for him to get wall funding. "We need a wall," Trump said. "So when you say how long is it going to take? When are they going to say that we need border security?"Negotiations between congressional Democrats and the Trump administration over the President's demands for a border wall have so far not yielded an agreement, and the shutdown will continue until at least Thursday, when the Senate returns to Washington.Trump is demanding that the bill funding the Department of Homeland Security include billion for the border wall. The House passed a bill that included the funding and declined to take up a Senate-passed plan that would have kept the government open through February 8. The Senate declined to take up the House's bill before the shutdown.
