SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diegans should get their flu shots before the flu season typically starts, county health officials said Wednesday.Most flu cases are reported between the end of October and April or May, according to the County Health and Human Services Agency.It takes about two weeks after receiving the flu shot to develop immunity to the virus, said officials.“People should get vaccinated before the worst of the flu season gets here,” said Wilma Wooten, M.D., M.P.H., County public health officer. “The vaccine is safe and effective and is available across the region.”342 people in San Diego County died of the virus during the last flu season, officials said. Most of the deaths were among those over 65, with underlying medical conditions. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego County has issued eight cease-and-desist orders to College Area homes, including six affiliated with Greek life organizations, ahead of reported Halloween gatherings.The orders say the eight residences, "intends to hold large gatherings on October 30, 2020 - November 1, 2020 in blatant violation of the Order of the State Health Officer, the County Order of the Health Officer and Emergency Regulations, and CDPH's October 9, 2020 gathering guidance."If the residences hold large gatherings, the cease-and-desist letters say they may face, "actions necessary to enforce the orders and the gathering guidance," which can include criminal misdemeanor citations and a ,000 fine for each violation.RELATED: Stay-at-home advisory issued for San Diego State students over HalloweenGatherings in the state's Oct. 9 health order must include no more than three households.In a statement, County Public Health Officer Dr. Wilma Wooten said the county's livelihood is directly tied to the actions of all residents."We were compelled to take this action because there is a great deal at stake. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a door-to-door solicitor who has prompted a string of complaints about threatening outbursts and who was seen on video taking swings at a woman in Pacific Beach.Corey Lamont Terry, 45, is wanted on felony charges of making criminal threats and attempted burglary, according to the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office. A warrant for his arrest was issued earlier this month, according to the Sheriff’s Department website.Police have been investigating Terry since at least early November, after “several” people complained about Terry’s aggressive language while soliciting money door-to-door, according to SDPD Lt. Shawn Takeuchi.Takeuchi urged the public to call their local police agency if they spot Terry, who is about 6 feet tall and weighs roughly 220 pounds. He said residents should not approach him based on his past behavior.Terry has canvassed neighborhoods in Pacific Beach and Ocean Beach in recent weeks, claiming he is raising money for charity.
