Thursday marks National Coming Out Day — an LGBTQ holiday that encourages young queer people to be comfortable with their sexuality and live an open lifestyle.2018 marks the 30th anniversary of the first National Coming Out Day, first celebrated in 1988. According to the Human Rights Campaign, the day was started by gay activists Robert Eichberg and Jean O'Leary. Recognized by all 50 states, the day is celebrated each year on the anniversary of the Second National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights, which took place on Oct. 11, 1987.As a psychologist, Eichberg wrote extensively on the act of "coming out" to friends, family and coworkers. in 1978, he established "The Experience," a community workshop in Los Angeles that encouraged young  LGBTQ people to live an openly gay lifestyle among friends and family.According to Eichberg, when LGBTQ people lived an open lifestyle it made their friends and family more likely to be accepting of queer lifestyles. It also encourages other gay people to live openly and helps develop a support network for those who may be struggling with their sexual identities.The Human Rights Campaign has published a resource guide to coming out, which you can read below. Top Republicans on Capitol Hill have made a concerted decision in their Russia inquiries: They are staying away from digging into the finances of President Donald Trump and his family.Six Republican leaders of key committees told CNN they see little reason to pursue those lines of inquiry or made no commitments to do so -- even as Democrats say determining whether there was a financial link between Trump, his family, his business and Russians is essential to understanding whether there was any collusion in the 2016 elections.Republicans have resisted calls to issue subpoenas for bank records, seeking Trump's tax returns or sending letters to witnesses to determine whether there were any Trump financial links to Russian actors -- calling the push nothing more than a Democratic fishing expedition.  820

There was plenty of controversy in the world of air travel in 2018. Most recently, passengers on Republic Airlines flight 3466 operating as United Express from Houston to Cincinnati are questioning why a captain did not land the flight after a woman began having seizures almost immediately after takeoff. According to WCPO television station in Cincinnati, video shows another passenger aiding the woman throughout the entire flight.The passenger in the video is being hailed as a hero as he helped keep the other passengers calm during the incident, which lasted for more than two hours.Republic Airlines operating as United issued a statement saying the passenger was transported to the hospital once the flight landed, and those offering her care in the air were assisted by an on-call medical service crew members.United has not been without its share of headlines this year. In May 2018, a lawsuit was filed on behalf of a Nigerian woman who was kicked off a flight from Houston to San Francisco after a white man complained she was "pungent."
