A prayer rally was held over the weekend for a 33-year-old man who died after being arrested by sheriff’s deputies in a Southern California grocery store.The man, Ernie Serrano, was at the store last Tuesday night in line to pay for his items. Sheriff’s deputies say when they arrived at the store, they saw Serrano tussling with a security guard and attempting to take the guard’s gun, according to a department press release.“While detaining Serrano, he continued fighting with the deputies and did not comply with their commands. At that time, a use of force occurred,” Sgt. Lionel Murphy with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department states in the release.Serrano was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Deputies say Serrano then stopped breathing. "Medical personnel on scene rendered aid and was able to obtain a pulse. Serrano was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. While at the hospital, Serrano’s condition deteriorated, and he was later pronounced deceased," the department states. A rare blue lobster made its way to a Red Lobster restaurant in Ohio recently, and nearly landed on a customer’s dinner plate. But thanks to a sharp-eyed employee, the blue lobster was spotted in the restaurant’s tank.Blue lobsters are incredibly rare – only one out of 2 million lobsters are blue lobsters.The nearby Akron Zoo has since taken over care of the lobster, and is preparing a new home for it.“The blue coloration of the shell is the result of a genetic anomaly,” the Akron Zoo said.The lobster has been given the name “Clawde,” which is said to be the restaurant’s mascot. 593

A new scientific model estimates 130,000 lives could be saved by next Spring if there is universal mask use in public. Without changes, the United States could be ontrack to record more than 500,000 deaths from COVID-19 by March 2021, the study reports.“We find that achieving universal mask use (95% mask use in public) could be sufficient to ameliorate the worst effects of epidemic resurgences in many states,” the study stated.The findings, published Friday in the journal Nature Medicine, found even if 85 percent mask use was achieved and current social distance policies remained in effect, it could result in an additional 95,000 lives being saved.According to the study, the national average for self-reported mask wearing is at just 49 percent as of late-September.The researchers ran scientific model projects using information from states about when they would implement stricter lockdown or stay-at-home orders to make their outcomes as realistic as possible based on current stated parameters and orders.These findings come as the U.S. struggles with a resurgence of COVID-19 cases.The country recorded more than 75,000 new infections Thursday alone, according to the New York Times.There are now a total of more than 8,450,000 positive COVID-19 cases since the pandemic started in the country, and at least 223,000 deaths from the disease. 1362
