SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — While the Friday night lights of high school football are dimmed for the time being, the same cannot be said for the pickleball courts in Del Cerro."There is nothing better than to play pickleball on a Friday night," says avid player Deanna McDonald.Some players decided to pick up the game after the pandemic hit, and found it to be so much fun. And while some sports and other physical activities have been limited, or put on hold due to COVID-19, pickleball has become a great alternative."When my gym closed, I was looking for something to do besides just walking around my neighborhood a few times, and get some exercise," says pickleball newcomer Noli Zosa.As for player Joe Arnold, he can't get enough pickleball."I suffer from what is called pickleball addictive disorder, and it really helps that a lot," Arnold joked.Prior to the pandemic, pickleball was exploding in popularity. From the young to the old, it's a sport that can be played at any age."The people who play are so nice, and you'll hear a lot of laughter in all the games," says Zosa.Now, when it comes to playing pickleball, there are no actual COVID rules, but these players do their best to keep the game as safe as possible."We sanitize the ball, and try to keep our social distance after each game. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Traffic was backed up throughout the day Monday in Clairemont after a crash involving several vehicles. The crash happened just before 1 p.m. on Balboa Avenue near Albertine Avenue. According to San Diego Police, a 59-year-old man driving west on Balboa Avenue hit a raised median and crossed into the eastbound lanes of traffic. Police say he then hit a Jeep Patriot, causing it to slam into a Honda Civic and a Jeep Cherokee. Police say the driver of the Jeep Patriot sustained a fractured femur and was taken to the hospital. Her passenger also complained of pain. No one else was injured. The 59-year-old driver of the Nissan Frontier was arrested for DUI drugs. 695

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Workers around San Diego make more than the national average, according to a new U.S. Bureau or Labor Statistics report. The report shows that San Diegans make roughly .93 per hour, 12 percent more than the national average of .98. Management jobs paid the highest, with an average of just over per hour, followed by legal occupations at .43. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Wells Fargo Bank officials are offering a ,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for robbing three San Diego-area banks.The string of robberies started September 11 at the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 5522 Balboa Avenue in Clairemont, followed by a second theft October 6 at the branch located at 276 N. El Camino Real in Encinitas.In a release, FBI and the San Diego Violent Crimes Task Force officials said they believe that the same individual, described as a white male in his 50s-60s, is responsible for both robberies."In each robbery, the robber approached the teller and presented a note demanding money from the bank in a similar manner," said FBI special agent Davene Butler.Images from those robberies show the suspect wearing a hat and sunglasses. Each time, the robber was provided a sum of cash and departed the bank on foot, Butler said. 946

He moved from San Diego to the big island two years ago for his fiance, who is attending pharmacy school.He said the bands of weather leading up to the brunt of the storm started hitting faster, leaving shorter windows of respite."It looks like it might be coming back pretty soon I don’t think I want to stand out here too long," Bohn said. "The floodwaters have completely destroyed the Bayfront. The downtown road area, there’s no access there whatsoever the cops have blocked that off."He's an occupational therapist and told 10News he was making calls earlier in the day, checking on his clients and ensuring they didn't need medications or help evacuating.He said emergency crews patrolled the area about every 45 minutes, keeping everyone safe.
