Country star Jason Aldean was performing when a gunman began firing on the crowd from inside Mandalay Bay. Now, Aldean is opening up about how he's been coping since the tragedy of Oct. 1, 2017.  "I think you go through a lot of different emotions of being thankful that none of your family and friends was injured. And then you feel guilty," said Aldean. "Those people are there to see your show so that's awful."Since that dreadful night in October, Aldean has struggled with the complexity of his feelings about surviving the country's deadliest mass shooting in modern history.  "And then you start doing that thing, like, 'Man, did that really happen. Did that really happen to us?' It seems so crazy. Like how could that even be a thing?"Aldean said his wife and crew were a great comfort to him, but it was visiting the injured in the hospital and the birth of his son that put things in perspective. "That helped. Going back to the hospital, going back to Vegas and seeing those people. Seeing some of the strength they were having," said Aldean. " People laid up in the hospital and smiling and laughing and just being glad they were alive."His son was born exactly two months after the Las Vegas shooting."Really to me, he just gave me something else to focus on. Codeine prescriptions for children who have had their tonsils and adenoids removed have decreased since the Food and Drug Administration began requiring a black box warning on the products four years ago, according to a new report from the American Academy of Pediatrics. However, some children continue to be prescribed codeine, and other opioid prescriptions for children have continued to rise since then.Between 2010 and 2015, doctors collected data on more than 350,000 privately insured children up to 18 years old who had undergone those surgical procedures. They monitored the children's prescriptions for codeine and alternative opioids.Codeine, an opioid pain reliever, came under scrutiny due to its adverse effects on children. According to the FDA, it led to serious breathing troubles, including 24 deaths, in children from January 1969 to May 2015.In August 2012, the FDA launched an investigation into the safety of codeine use in children. Citigroup has terminated a manager following an investigation into his role operating a prominent website dedicated to QAnon conspiracy theory, according to Bloomberg.Jason Gelinas was placed on paid leave in mid-September after he was identified by Logically.ai as the operator of QMap.pub and it’s affiliated apps.“Mr. Gelinas is no longer employed by Citi,” the company said in a statement to Bloomberg. “Our code of conduct includes specific policies that employees are required to adhere to, and when breaches are identified, the firm takes action.”Gelinas was a manager in Citigroup;s technology department. The company says employees have to disclose outside business activity where they receive compensation.Gelinas was reportedly earning about ,000 a month from a crowdfunding site supporting the QAnon site he ran. He says the money helped cover the monthly operating costs.QMap once drew a reported 10 million visitors a month over the summer. Once Gelinas was identified, the site was taken down.QAnon began a few years ago as a single conspiracy theory. Cleanup is underway in Louisiana and southeastern Texas after one of the strongest hurricanes to ever make landfall in the area caused extensive damage and flooding on Thursday.Reports Thursday indicated that Hurricane Laura killed six people, including a 14-year-old girl. Officials expect that number to rise as recovery efforts continue.Laura is continuing to bring heavy winds and rains to the south-central United States. Reports say that the system spun off tornadoes in Arkansas on Thursday night, and the storm will bring heavy rains and 30 mph winds to the Missouri Valley and Ohio Valley regions on Friday.As of Friday morning, more than half a million people in Louisiana are still without electricity. About 200,000 people in Texas are also without power, including 94 percent of people in Orange County, a county bordering Louisiana.Among the areas hardest hit by Laura was Lake Charles, a city in southwest Louisiana. Though it's located about 40 miles inland, massive storm surge and heavy rain have caused extensive flooding in the area.
