VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Jury selection is expected to take all week in the trial of former NFL tight end Kellen Winslow II. The San Diego football star and son of Chargers Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow Senior pleaded not guilty to charges that he raped two homeless women in Encinitas last year. He's also charged with raping an unconscious seventeen-year-old girl back when Winslow was nineteen. Prosecutors say he was out of custody on million bail in connection with the felony case when he got in trouble again. Prosecutors say he fondled himself in front of a 77- year-old woman at a Carlsbad gym, asked her if she liked it, and groped her while she was in a hot tub at the same gym.Jan Ronis is a San Diego defense attorney not affiliated with the case, but watching it closely. "From what I've seen at the preliminary examination, everyone that testified seemed to have a lot of credibility. These were older women, you would extend the greatest credibility to that kind of witness," said Ronis. Winslow played ten seasons with the NFL. His defense team is reportedly planning to call two psychiatrists to testify. It's unclear if CTE, or Chronic traumatic encephalopathy will play a role in that defense. VISTA (CNS) - A man who allegedly stabbed a transient at the culmination of an Escondido crime spree pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and other charges Tuesday, with police saying new jail booking criteria established during the COVID-19 pandemic kept the suspect out of custody despite numerous arrests.Timothy Alvarado, 22, of La Mesa, is accused of stabbing the victim in the neck on May 16, following several other arrests in the weeks leading up to the alleged attack.Alvarado was arrested and released four times between May 2 and May 14 for allegedly stealing cars, including the same vehicle twice in four days from the same apartment complex, according to Escondido police.Alvarado faces an attempted murder charge in the May 16 stabbing, and about a dozen additional felony counts related to the car thefts. Valley Parkway and saw a man emerge from bushes near the station and run west from the scene toward Tulip street. (KGTV) -- Deputies arrested a man they say kidnapped his girlfriend’s 8-year-old son early Wednesday morning.According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the alleged kidnapping happened on the 300 block of Hillside Terrace at 2:15 a.m.Authorities say Guillermo Cruz, 32, was intoxicated when he drove to his girlfriend’s house, jumped a balcony fence, and abducted the woman’s sleeping 8-year-old son. Deputies say Cruz is not the child’s father.After calling 911, deputies spotted the vehicle Cruz was driving and pulled him over before making the arrest. The young boy was unharmed.Deputies say they noticed Cruz had an empty vodka bottle in the car with him.
