(KGTV) - The nephew of baseball star Alex Rodriguez was kidnapped and held for ransom in New York Thursday after a deal involving a Lamborghini, various media outlets reported.Rodriguez’ nephew, 29-year-old Norberto Susini, met two men at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square to sell them the vehicle, WABC reported. The men then demanded Susini return a ,000 deposit but he refused.WABC reported the men then held Susini against his will in a hotel room. They demanded ransom from Susini’s business partners, who called police.The men turned themselves in at 4 a.m, according to WABC.Susini is a player in independent baseball leagues. His uncle has not publicly commented on the kidnapping. 708

(KGTV) -- The state’s Department of Motor Vehicles is reopening its remaining field offices that were shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.Starting Thursday, June 11, 169 DMV locations across California will reopen for customers that have appointments and provide service for limited transactions that require an in-person visit.DMV field offices were closed in March due to the coronavirus pandemic but select locations around the state began reopening in May with limited service.Although field offices will reopen, many services -- including behind-the-wheel drive tests – are not available for the time being. Officials said behind-the-wheel testing will return in the coming weeks.DMV officials are urging customers to continue “to use its online services, expanded virtual services and other service channels to complete transactions, including eligible driver license and vehicle registration renewals.”Among the limited services being offered at field offices:Paying registration for an impounded vehicle due to registration-related issuesReinstating a suspended or revoked river licensepplying for a reduced-fee or no-fee identification cardProcessing commercial driver license transactionsApplying for a disabled person parking placardsAdding ambulance certificate or firefighter endorsement to a driver licenseVerifying transit training document to drive transit busProcess DMV express customers for REAL ID transactions, if time and space allowVehicle verificationsDMV officials said the department is rescheduling any appointments that were canceled during the closure and notifying customers of new appointment dates.At each field office, employees will be wearing face coverings, practicing physical distancing protocols, and will have access to disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, field shields, gloves, and soap and water.All customers will be required to wear a face covering and remain at least six feet apart from others when in line. Not when it comes to gear, but when it comes to safety.Don't go aloneDon't surf alone. If you're new to the sport, you definitely don't want to surf alone. Attending a surf school or lesson can help with that. If you've been surfing, it's still always better to surf with a buddy.Warm upStretching out helps prevent injuries. If you're new to surfing, you'll definitely be using some muscles you haven't used before so limber up!Space outBetween your foot and your board's leash, there's plenty of room for your board to get in someone's way and vice-versa. Make sure you have enough room between yourself once you go for a wave. That last thing you want before wiping out is to send your board into someone or catch someone else's board yourself.Don't ruin a waveBefore you paddle out, check the situation. There may be someone hurdling toward you and about to catch a wave. Point being, get your bearings on where others are currently. Paddle out between breaks and you'll be less likely to run into someone.Don't drop inIf you're not paying attention, you may end up on the same wave as another surfer. This can lead to two things, a collision or having to bail out of the wave. Either way, it's bad news. Apologize if you accidentally end up in the situation, but be aware of your surroundings.Spotting a ripRip currents can be a real danger whether you're swimming or surfing. Know how to spot a rip current and where you're allowed to surf, and make sure you're within view of a lifeguard. If you're caught in a rip current, experts say it's important to stay calm.
