BRASILIA, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff on Thursday underlined the importance of cooperation in science, technology and space areas between China and her country, especially a project known as the China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite (CBERS) Program.
China first began to provide foreign aid in 1950, when it provided material assistance to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Vietnam, according to an earlier white paper on foreign aid issued in 2011.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe offered condolences to Chinese President Xi and Premier Li on Monday over the deadly quake, expressing "heartfelt sympathy and condolences" to the government and people of China. He said Japan is ready to extend support to help China cope with the aftermath of the quake.
China will work with Uzbekistan to promote the construction of the Silk Road economic belt, and their cooperation in such areas as transportation infrastructure, energy, industrial parks and finance, Li said.
They also urged the government to tighten regulations and adopt stricter environmental, quality and safety control standards in a bid to squeeze out industrial programs with high pollution and low efficiency.
