(KGTV) - Surveillance video shows a woman at the front door of a home in Chula Vista doing a face-plant to avoid police.Along Paseo Burga, Lillie Utz got an unexpected visitor outside her front door as she was sewing Christmas presents on Saturday afternoon.Through a window, Utz saw a woman racing back and forth in her front yard. Turns out neighbors had seen the same woman running in and out of yards. At least one of them had called police. Soon after, video shows a woman at Utz's front door. I was about six feet away sewing," said Utz. In the video, the woman can't get in, so she kneels and hides. She grabs a cushion to shield her face as a police cruiser drives by."She got up and another car drives by. She then pops up, grabs a bag she had with her and runs behind a bush. CHULA VISTA (KGTV) – A Chula Vista man says he could have been seriously hurt by a razor blade attached to the handlebar of a shopping cart.Jason Rodriguez says he was with his wife and young daughter, shopping at the Walmart on Eastlake Parkway Wednesday morning.“Normally we put her in the shopping cart, but I’m glad we didn’t this time,” Rodriguez said.Rodriguez discovered the blade when he went to wipe down the cart handle.  It was attached by magnets to the bottom of the handlebar.“I could have been cut. I could have caught a disease of some sort,” Rodriguez said. “There are crazy people out there who do dumb things for who knows what reason.”Rodriguez says he alerted store management to the incident. He added that he doesn’t blame Walmart because whoever hid the blade could have just as easily put it on other store’s carts.However, he hopes that stores and people will be more vigilant going forward.Walmart gave 10News the following statement: 979

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - In August, Dean Riggott watched as his wife Karen fell off a Bird Scooter, her head crashing into the pavement. "It's been the most traumatic experience in my entire life," said Dean.Doctors initially told Dean that his wife likely wouldn't survive; she fractured her skull in 10 different places and was in a coma. "They were asking me to quite honestly start to get stuff in order, they didn't feel she would make it out of the first few days," remembers Dean.But each day, Karen continued to beat the odds. By day 32 she was out of the coma and began to show movement in her hands and feet. Weeks later, she was in rehab beginning to walk. "I didn't really know exactly what happened and I was in pain, I still am in pain, but I'm capable of moving, and my memory is good!" said Karen.After 69 days in the hospital and rehab, Karen was finally able to go home on Friday. "I'm the happiest man on this planet. I tell her every day thank you for being my wife, every day. I'm the most fortunate man in the world, I get to keep loving her," said Dean. CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a firearm after he allegedly pointed a rifle at a family that was setting off fireworks, authorities said today.Samuel Austin Laurabee, 28, was arrested Saturday night in the 500 block of Woodlawn Avenue, according to Lt. Scott Adkins of the Chula Vista Police Department.Laurabee allegedly pointed a bolt-action rifle at members of a nearby family who were setting off Fourth of July fireworks, Adkins said.Laurabee was booked into the San Diego Central Jail, with bail set at ,000, on one felony charge of assault with a firearm, according to jail records. He is scheduled for arraignment on July 31. 681

(KGTV) - A Chula Vista high school student was arrested on suspicion of posting a threatening message on social media.Sweetwater Union High School District said they notified police Wednesday that a threat against Olympian High School was posted on social media. A student notified the administrators after school of the social media posting, according to Chula Vista Police.The threat was thought to be credible at the time, police said, and alluded to a student "becoming a school shooter."Chula Vista Police officers identified the poster as a 16-year-old 10th-grade student and took her into custody at her home Wednesday night. Police said the girl admitted to making the social media post "as a joke and thought it would be funny."Officers searched the students home but did not find any weapons. According to the district, officers do not believe any actual incident would have occurred.The student was arrested and taken to Juvenile Hall for making the threat.The Olympian High threat is the latest in a series of threats made against San Diego County schools in the weeks since the tragic high school shooting in Parkland, Florida, on Feb. 14.RELATED STORIES: 1206
