SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — New details are emerging about the death of a man in San Diego Sheriff’s deputies’ custody. A recently released Medical Examiner’s report says an arrestee’s death last year was a "homicide." The District Attorney's office said last year that none of the deputies involved in the in custody death will face any criminal charges. Oscar Leal died last February 28 after deputies responded to his apartment in Vista and detained him. His level of methamphetamine intoxication combined with his active resistance combativeness in the duration of the struggle, all contributed to his death ... The deputies involved in his detention acted reasonably under the circumstances in bear no state criminal liability for their actions."The Sheriff Bill Gore wrote in a statement:"I am aware of the Medical Examiner's conclusion regarding the manner of death of Mr. Leal. I respectfully disagree with the classification of the manner of death in this case as a homicide.The pathologist wrote that his death was due to acute methamphetamine toxicity in the setting of agitation, physical altercation, and prone restraint. It was purely due to Mr. Leal's agitation that he was restrained. Peace officers have a duty to restrain those who are agitated and under arrest, as Mr. Leal was. Were it not for Mr. Leal's abuse of methamphetamine he would be alive today. The deputies and nurses on scene rendered immediate aid to Mr. Leal.Mr. Leal brought upon his own death with his choice to use methamphetamine. Komen 3-Day walk in San Diego Friday.One year ago, Leslie Heiser got the news she never expected to hear: she was diagnosed with breast cancer. After a year of treatment, doctors have declared her cancer-free. What started as simple motivation to get through tough days turned into what she believes will be a life-changing experience.The walkers participating in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day event will cover 60 miles in three days. All are doing it for different reasons: some walking in memory of loved ones, others showing support for those battling cancer. And my biggest cheerleader from treatment to surgery. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Pounds of marijuana, concentrates and edibles, cash, and handguns were seized from a Pacific Beach pot dispensary Thursday.San Diego Police raided Truly Green, located at 4150 Mission Blvd., at about 8 a.m. for illegally operating the business.The seizure included 57 pounds of high-grade marijuana, more than 1400 marijuana concentrates and edibles, ,100 in cash, and two handguns.Two employees were arrested for possession of marijuana for sale and operating a business without a permit. They were released with a citation.Police said the owners were not present, but police said they will be charged. 637

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Police are searching for a suspect who fled the scene of a deadly shooting near the Linda Vista Recreation Center on Sunday.San Diego Police say that officers were called to the area near 7000 Levant Street in Linda Vista just after 11 a.m. over reports of gunfire in the area. When officers arrived, they found one man who had been shot in the upper body. Officer provided first aid to the man until San Diego Fire-Rescue personnel arrived. The man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The victim has been identified but his identity was not released. He is described as a 27-year-old Hispanic man from San Diego.While officers were at the hospital, a second man arrived with an apparent gunshot wound, police said. He said that he had also been injured outside of the same recreation center. The second victim has also been identified but his name was not released. He is described as a 30-year-old man from San Diego.Police said witnesses reported seeing a man, possibly Hispanic, wearing a mask and shorts, running from the scene. He was seen getting into a small, white four-door vehicle that was last seen driving southbound on Linda Vista Road.Officers said the two victims appeared to have been near the handball courts at the recreation center when they were injured. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Raids are expected to begin across the country this weekend targeting undocumented immigrants with deportation orders.According to the New York Times, ICE agents will target some 2,000 who have deportation orders in at least ten cities. The raids will include "collateral" deportations, meaning undocumented immigrants at the scene may also be detained."There is definitely fear," said Benjamin Prado, a member of the 38-year-old group Union Del Barrio. This weekend, the group will be sending out an unspecified number of patrols in various communities. Prado showed 10News a video recorded by the group on Thursday morning. In it, a tip from neighbors in City Heights led them to two vehicles believed to being driven by ICE agents. The group in turn informed people through different means, including social media posts about the presence of the agents.Another group taking action is the Council on American-Islamic Relations. On Thursday morning, national CAIR reissued a community advisory ahead of the impending raids."When you're stressed the first thing you forget is your rights," said Aleena Jun Nawabi, who heads outreach for CAIR San Diego.In the advisory, CAIR officials emphasize rights, including not having to open the front door unless there's a warrant.Those rights are also highlighted in cards and handouts that will be given out by Union Del Barrio.
