That's the question the San Diego County Fire Department is asking after the official legal takeover of the formerly volunteer-run Julian-Cuyamaca Fire District. The county and the small town department are stuck in a legal battle since the volunteer department's dissolution in April 2019. Previously, members of LAFCO (Local Agency Formation Commission), a group that overseas special county districts, voted to dissolve the volunteer-run fire department. In March 2019, citizens voted the fire agency in charge should be San Diego County Fire Department. In April 2019, the official handover was supposed to happen. People that are their neighbors, their friends," Julian resident Vicki Newman said. Newman said she has been an advocate for the small town department since volunteers saved her brother-in-law's life. Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth, Kenosha County Executive Jim Kreuser, City of Kenosha Mayor John Antaramian, and Major General Paul Knapp held a news conference on Monday to update the public on the Jacob Blake case and police brutality protests across the city.Sheriff Beth said that close to 200 people were arrested last week.He added that half those that were arrested were "people from outside the community."The Kenosha Police Department, who was not at the press conference, released a press release on Sunday on Twitter detailing the arrests.In the statement, the department said 175 people were arrested. 102 of those arrests were people with "listed addresses from outside Kenosha. 702

JACKSONVILLE, Florida — A Florida gas station owner is “sick and tired” of people using the microwave to warm containers of urine. Parul Patel has placed a sign in his store asking customers to stop committing this act. He owns a BP gas station and On the Fly convenience store in Jacksonville, which are within walking distance of two labs. One lab said it does not collect drug test samples. He said that people walk in off the street, microwave their containers and then leave. Warming urine from a person who has not taken drugs is seen by some as a way to pass a drug test. A few months ago a woman became aggressive with Patel when he asked her to not warm urine. Jacob says the individuals should, instead, be kept behind bars."As far as I'm concerned, they gave up their right to freedom when they preyed on our young and most vulnerable. They don't belong in any town. They belong behind bars," Jacob said in a statement.Since 2015, nine of 12 sexually violent predators in the county have been released into the East County. Five of 12 have violated the conditions of their release. Four have been returned to a state mental institution.Cornwell's release hasn't been finalized.
