Pipe bomb suspect Cesar Sayoc made his first appearance in a New York federal court Tuesday and was told he will be held without bond.The defense issued no objection to Judge Robert Lehrburger's decision. OXNARD, Calif. (KGTV) -- Authorities say a 10-year-old student has been shot by a stray bullet in a drive-by shooting outside a Southern California elementary school. Oxnard police say Friday the child was struck during a car-to-car shooting outside McAuliffe Elementary School in the coastal city. The student is expected to survive and no one else was injured. McAuliffe enrolls about 700 students from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade. Oxnard is a city of 200,000 people about 55 miles northwest of Los Angeles. 521

(KGTV) — An auto theft suspect barricaded himself in an SUV at a South Bay motel, prompting a seven-hour SWAT standoff Thursday.SWAT officers surrounded the SUV in the E-Z 8 Motel on Outer Rd. at around 9 a.m. in the Palm City neighborhood, near Otay Mesa West.About 4 p.m., the suspect surrendered with his hands up.The suspect, identified as a man in his late 20s or early 30s, was the suspect of auto thefts in the South Bay and has a criminal history in the National City area, according to San Diego Police. Police had previously told 10News the man was a hit-and-run suspect.National City Police responded to the motel Thursday morning waiting for the suspect to exit, according to SDPD. The suspect and his girlfriend got into the parked SUV. When police surrounded the pair, the woman surrendered but the suspect did not. Parents of a Wisconsin teen demand change after their son took his own life. Quinten Espinoza and his family just moved to Glendale, Wisconsin from Ohio four months ago. He was an 8th grader at Glen Hills Middle School. The parents said they knew he was dealing with some bullying but never thought it would go as far as it did."He always said, I told the teachers, it's not a big deal. I'll go up. No, I'm okay, I got it taken care of,” said Espinoza’s mother Lara Furko. “Never showed any other signs of anything. So I never thought to pursue it any further. And now I'm at where I'm at today.”Furko saved some of the messages he received. About three weeks ago a female classmate wrote, “I hate you so much, I hope you die.” Espinoza responded, “I’m a human being just like you and if I do you will feel guilty. #StopBullying.”On Wednesday the principal of Glen Hills invited parents to a meeting to share concerns about Espinoza’s death. Espinoza’s family is questioning the school's response to his death. School leaders said it’s an ongoing investigation by police and the school district, and that there were no reports of bullying.  1183
