SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A local family is remembering their mother who died suddenly after suffering a brain aneurysm.Monica Pimentel, 43, collapsed at her home on May 17. She died the next day at the hospital with her family by her side. Monica was born and raised in San Diego. She graduated from Patrick Henry High School and was deeply involved in the San Carlos community. She was the mother of four children.This is the second time tragedy has struck the Pimentel family. In 2014, one of their daughters, Jewelean Pimentel, died from bacterial meningitis. Jewelean was a freshman at Patrick Henry and was also a cheerleader for the school. The family's father is devastated after suffering two heartbreaking losses. He is now taking care of the remaining three children. He and Monica had been married for 20 years. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Carlos family is hoping surveillance video will help track down the man recorded making himself comfortable in their home.Along Wallsey Drive, the Meduna family got a heart-sinking scare the day before Halloween.Around 8:30 a.m, Megan Meduna and her husband both got a notification that their garage door was open. Inside the home, a camera was recording an intruder. Meduna says the man had pried open a window screen in the front and forced open a window. A sound heard in the video is the burglar opening the door to the garage, before he's seen shutting the window he just climbed through. As he puts on his gloves, he walks up to the camera and flips it over."It's just creepy, creepy to see someone in my house sneaking around," said Meduna.By the time police arrived, the man was gone. He got away with only a little bit of cash, but the impact was felt across a neighborhood. Surveillance video showed him casing the area. Minutes before the break-in, a neighbor reported seeing the man knocking at her door, then pretending to need directions when she answered the door. At another home, a ripped screen was found near a side window and an out-of-place brick was discovered outside another window.Neighbors are now wondering if the same man could be linked to other burglaries. A few weeks ago and blocks away, 10News reported on a break-in with a similar MO that left a newlywed couple missing wedding gifts and family heirlooms. A month ago, there was a another burglary at Meduna's home, in which electronics and jewelry were taken."Feel violated and angry. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man who was injured in a fire above a business near Belmont Park in Mission Beach has died.The San Diego County Medical Examiner's office announced the death of 36-year-old Aaron Porter, Wednesday evening.For the last 20 years, Richard Ghozul has worked at Kojack's Greek and American Food, and has lived in the upstairs apartment. Tuesday morning at around 6 AM, the 70-year-old was fast asleep until flames began crackling above his ceiling. “My apartment [is] gone, everything," Ghozul said. With the help of a lifeguard who ran into the apartments, Ghozul barely made it out alive. But Aaron Porter, the man who just moved in next door, did not. According to the County Medical Examiner, Aaron Porter died at UCSD Medical Center after suffering major thermal injuries.“He is always busy. He works on the fishing boat," Ghozul remembered of Porter. “I’m very sad for him. Too much smoke happened to him.”Early mornings and late nights, Porter worked at Aztec Sportfishing.
