EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - A former El Cajon high school teacher is in custody on suspicion of sexually assaulting five young victims and attempting to lure a sixth, including two students, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said Friday.38-year-old Dustin Sniff, also known as Dustin Stevens, is suspected of multiple counts of assaulting a minor, deputies said. Charges include rape by force/fear and oral copulation by force.The alleged victims were between 16 and 22 years old. Sniff is a former teacher at Christian High School, a private evangelical school in El Cajon. None of the assaults happened on campus, according to investigators.A student told 10News Sniff taught Film and Bible classes, and was well liked. The student said Sniff abruptly left the school about two years ago, around the time of the last reported incident.Some of the victims knew Sniff from a website called Model Mayhem, deputies said in a news release.Deputies said anyone who may be a victim of a similar crime or has information about the cases should call the Sheriff's Sex Assault Unit at 858-285-6222. 1106

EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- A standoff in El Cajon ended Thursday afternoon after a man barricaded himself inside an apartment. According to police, the incident began unfolding before 1 p.m. near the intersection of Jamacha Road and Dorothy Street. Police told 10News the standoff was sparked due to a domestic incident at The Grove apartments.Police could be seen blocking off the street as officers stood near their patrol cars in the rain. Neighbors watched in awe from across the street."We heard the cops say that he made a comment saying he was going to burn the apartment down," said Christina Messenger. The man shattered the glass of the windows several times from the inside the first floor unit. At one point, he poked his head out to yell at officers. "You just don’t know whats going on in there," said Sherry Quijada. "You don’t know whether hes gonna pull a gun out and start shooting. You don’t know what someone like that is capable of."Eventually, a K9 officer was sent in, ending the hours-long standoff. During a press conference on Wednesday, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden said that he believes the police officers who shot Jacob Blake and Breonna Taylor should be charged with crimes.Biden said that the cases should be handled within the judicial system, but said that the officers in the cases should face charges "at a minimum."Biden added that the person who shot a Trump supporter during a weekend confrontation in Portland, Oregon should also face charges.When asked by reporters how Biden would keep Americans safe in times of civil unrest, Biden said he wouldn't "incite violence" and would condemn it when occurred. (KGTV) - At age 73, Brian Duncan is following his own advice: if you think you can do it, you probably can.When Duncan got out of the Navy in 1967 he wanted to become a police officer. At the time, however, he says departments wanted big, tall men with 20/20 vision. He didn't fit the mold and moved on to a career in the court system.Twelve years ago, the itch came back, and Duncan joined the El Cajon Police Department's Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol, also known as the RSVP program.Now he's taking his service even further, working to become a reserve police officer.If he lands a job, Duncan will be a sworn police officer able to make arrests and carry firearms. The only difference is he'll always have to work alongside a regular police officer.Duncan says his age is not a barrier and he's doing this to make a difference in the community."I've proven I can get through the academy, so I can do it. If I didn't think I could do it or would jeopardize someone's safety, I wouldn't do it," said Duncan.Reserve officers work voluntarily and are not paid.On Friday Duncan graduates from Grossmont College's 32nd Police Academy and already has an application out for a job.  1210
