China firmly supports the establishment of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Economic Community and the leading role of ASEAN in regional cooperation, Wang noted. He hoped that Malaysia, as rotating ASEAN chairmanship this year, will play an active role in safeguarding and boosting sound China-ASEAN ties.
During the talks, Xi said that China and Costa Rica should set a good example of friendly cooperation between countries of different sizes with different national conditions. The two sides should advance bilateral ties from a strategic perspective and support each other on their core interests.
