A "very bizarre" car crash in Canada resulted in the arrests of five people who were found naked after the collision. On Monday, officers with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police were called to the scene of a crash involving a car and pickup truck in Nisku, Alberta, according to CBC News.At the scene, officers arrested three adults and two "youths." All five were naked when police caught them, according to the Edmonton Journal. The crash apparently happened after police said the suspects kidnapped three people — a man, a woman and an infant — from a home and forced them into the car. The man, who was apparently locked in the car's trunk, managed to escape the moving vehicle and flag down a man driving a pickup truck.CBC reported that the passerby managed to get all three kidnapping victims into his truck and was driving them away when he was rammed by the suspects, which forced his truck into a ditch.None of the victims were injured in the ordeal. The kidnapping suspects have not been named and it's unclear why they were naked at the scene of the crash. A Royal Canadian Mounted Police investigator described the incident as "very bizarre" to The Guardian. The two underage suspects were released without charges. The three unidentified adult suspects will face charges for kidnapping and resisting arrest, according to the Edmonton Journal. The kidnapping victims and suspects apparently know each other, police told CBC.Clint Davis is a reporter for the Scripps National Desk. [EDITOR'S NOTE - The story has been updated to include a response from Alec Phillipp, a spokesperson with the City of San Diego, about the reasons for the delay of the project.)SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KGTV) - Residents in a Rancho Pe?asquitos neighborhood say they are frustrated at the delays keeping a popular community park closed. 10News has uncovered that a key error by a contractor hired by the city is at least partly responsible for the park remaining closed past its scheduled reopening date. When 10News visited Rollings Hills Park Wednesday afternoon it was empty, with the exception of one man walking his dog on the outfield of the park's baseball diamond, the only portion of the park still available to the public. "Normally you'd expect this thing to be fairly packed," said Rick McElroy, who lives across the street. The ,500,000 renovation project began in August, 2018 with Mayor Kevin Faulconer and Councilmember Mark Kersey attending a ceremonial groundbreaking. The park will eventually have two new playgrounds, a rubber surface, and water fountains. Part of the money to pay for the project was raised by community members.A sign posted on the fence currently surrounding the park indicated that work would be done by Spring, 2019. It was previously reported that a source told 10News the contractor made a mistake while working on the park's draining system, which needed to be redone. But city officials say that's not the case.Alec Phillipp, a spokesperson with the City of San Diego, told 10News that the city may be responsible for the delay. The project had to be redesigned after discovering that the location of an existing underground draining system was not where crews anticipated. The city provided the plans to the contractor, which did not accurately map the draining system.Residents also cited other issues they have witnessed, including an accidental spill of sod for the park into the fence."I travel all over the world as part of my job and I get to see how construction is done," says McElroy. "And in other places, they've probably built skyscrapers in the amount of time it's taken us to revamp the park."10News contacted the City to ask how long the reopening will be delayed and whether the cost for the delay will be paid for by taxpayers.A City spokesperson responded that they would look into it. 2352

(KGTV) -- We’ve all seen popular natural disaster movies that show the ground opening up during a large earthquake. Despite the way Hollywood depicts the destruction, the U.S. Geological Survey says the ground can’t open up during a large earthquake. In the spirit of debunking this myth, we’ve decided to take a look at some other popular earthquake myths. Check them out below: Can the ground open up during an earthquake? According to the USGS, an earthquake occurs when two blocks of the earth’s crust slide past one another after being stuck together in one place for a long time, because of friction on the fault, while the rest of the crust rest of the crust away from the edges has been slowly moving. “If a fault could open up, no earthquake would occur in the first place because there would be no friction locking the two blocks together,” the agency says. "Shallow crevasses can form during earthquake-induced landslides, lateral spreads, or from other types of ground failures, but faults do not open up during an earthquake."RELATED: Is there such a thing as earthquake weather? Will California fall into the ocean? In short, the USGS says no. California is firmly planted on the top of earth’s crust in a location where it spans two tectonic plates. The San Andreas Fault System is the boundary between the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate. According to the USGS, the two plates move horizontally and, the agency says, there is nowhere for California to go. Los Angeles and San Francisco will one day be adjacent to one another, however. RELATED: Fault system in San Diego could cause big quakeCan animals predict earthquakes? This one is a bit unclear. According to the USGS, in 373 B.C. animals were observed leaving their homes and heading for safety days before a destructive earthquake. Since then, numerous anecdotal evidence exists of animals acting odd anywhere from weeks to seconds before an earthquake. Consistent and reliable behavior and the mechanism explaining how it could work still eludes scientists. Currently, scientists around the world are pursuing the mystery, according to the USGS. 2139
