LEMON GROVE, Calif. (KGTV) – An investigation was launched after at least one bullet struck a car traveling on state Route 94 in the Lemon Grove area.The California Highway Patrol said the incident was reported at around 3:30 a.m. on the eastbound side of SR-94, near College Avenue.According to CHP officials, the 63-year-old driver of a Cadillac CTS said he noticed a black or dark-colored sedan driving behind him for several miles prior to the gunfire.The Cadillac’s driver said the vehicle pulled up to his side and then shots were fired, shattering the driver’s side rear window.The vehicle continued on eastbound SR-94 as the Cadillac pulled over. ABC 10News learned the driver called 911 after the bullet came through the rear driver side window and lodged in the passenger side pillar.The driver was not injured.CHP shut down the right two lanes of the SR-94 from Lemon Grove to Federal Blvd for a few hours as part of their investigation. 956
LAKE MURRAY (CNS) - A 48-year-old man was taken to a hospital with multiple major fractures after hitting a Subaru WXR on the 5000 block of Campanile Drive, authorities said today.A 20-year-old behind the wheel of the car pulled out of an alley in front of the 2011 Kawasaki motorcycle, at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, while trying to drive north, according to Officer Robert Heims, with the San Diego Police Department.The motorcyclist was westbound on Montezuma Road and made a left turn southbound onto Campanile Drive, where the biker hit the car, Heims said.The driver of the Subaru had no injuries. LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) -- La Mesa Police are searching for several suspects they say robbed three Grossmont High School students at gunpoint.According to the city, the students were walking westbound on Murray Drive just before 1 p.m. Wednesday when a blue Nissan Sentra pulled into a Shell gas station and stopped.The driver of the car got out of the vehicle and demanded money from the students. As the first suspect demanded cash, a passenger in the vehicle pointed a handgun at the victims.After taking money from two of the students, the suspects left the scene.Police described the first suspect as a light-skinned Hispanic man, approximately 17 or 18 years old, with brown eyes, a mustache, and groomed eyebrows.The second suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 18-19 years old, with black wavy hair and light-colored tips. LAKESIDE, Calif. (CNS) - A motocross rider had to be airlifted for medical treatment Sunday after hitting a bystander at Barona Oaks MX, an off-roading facility in Lakeside.The Barona Fire Department responded to a call shortly after noon for two injured men at the 80-acre facility, where riders bring their own ATVs and dirt bikes.The rider, who is in his 40s, lost control of his dirt bike during training runs around the track and struck the bystander, who is in his 60s, according to Barona Fire Capt. Jim Huson. Friends of the bystander who was hit say he's well known, and often at the track to train riders.The rider was airlifted from the scene, Huson said, while the bystander was transported in an ambulance.No additional information was immediately available. 779
LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Charges have been issued against a La Mesa store owner arrested over an altercation with the media. According to the City of La Mesa, charges against Peter Carzis, 76, include one count of felony vandalism and three counts of misdemeanor battery.An additional misdemeanor charge of committing a lewd act in public was also issued for an incident that occurred on January 18. Monday, news crews gathered outside Peter’s Men’s Apparel, a clothing store owned by Carzis, to speak with him about reports of lewd acts occurring outside the store over the weekend. As cameras rolled, Carzis was seen cursing before attacking a news photographer and slapping the phone out of a reporter’s hand. Police said Carzis caused “irreparable damage to a video camera reported to be worth approximately ,000.”According to police, Carzis "is also the suspect in two other reported crimes, a misdemeanor battery and a misdemeanor lewd act in public" that occurred on Jan. 18 in front of his store.
