CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A man wanted on suspicion of killing his wife Sunday is believed to be on the run in the San Diego area, police said.The suspect was identified as Francisco Uriarte, 37, who is suspected in the death of his wife at an apartment in the 500 block of Oxford Street, according to Lt. Dan Peak of the Chula Vista Police Department.Chula Vista police were called to the address at 1:38 a.m. Sunday after a report of a domestic violence in progress, Peak said."Upon arrival, officers located three children at the residence," Peak said. "Officers were told (by) the children their mother and father had been in a physical fight."The children also told officers their dad had fled the scene and believed he killed their mother during the fight," Peak said. "The children were not injured from the incident and are currently safe in protective custody."The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of her family, Peak said."Francisco should be considered armed and dangerous," Peak said. He was last seen wearing a large black overcoat, shorts and flip-flops, he said.The suspect is also believed to have significant injuries to his hands and may try to seek medical attention, Peak said.Uriarte is 5-feet-9-inches tall, 190 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes, Peak said. Since then, teachers have been cut, bus routes were eliminated, and class sizes have increased.FCMAT recommends the state controller and local district attorney be notified of its findings.Frances Martinez, the former internal auditor for the district, told Team 10 the "people who purposely did wrong should be held accountable." Martinez said she raised the red flag regarding financial issues at the district, but was not taken seriously. She said when it came to some of the district's financial accounts, "that's how the reconciled. They just made up stuff and made a balance."Martinez said she was sitting next to Superintendent Karen Janney when the multimillion-dollar deficit was discovered. "She said, hey it's the business system. It's old, huh? Just making up stuff. I've heard about six different versions of the truth and none of them have been truthful."The former Chief Financial Officer Karen Michel would not participate in the audit. The team also could not make contact with Doug Martens, the director of fiscal services.With the release of the FCMAT report, it will be up to the District Attorney, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, and State Controller to determine if fraud did in fact occur within the Sweetwater District.The district was given 15 days to respond to the audit's findings with its "proposed action."One teacher in the district, who did not want to be identified, said the audit's findings were sad, but not surprising. "Hopefully, the positive that can come out of this is that we become more transparent and have more oversight and this will never happen again," the teacher said. On Tueday, SUHSD spokesman Manny Rubio provided this statement to 10News on behalf of the district: "The Sweetwater Union High School District is currently reviewing the report from FCMAT and its findings and recommendations. The District takes this report very seriously and will be determining next steps. Given that this matter is still pending, we will refrain from any additional comment at this time."The District Attorney's office said they are reviewing the audit. (KGTV) -- Police are investigating two violent incidents that occurred at Chula Vista’s Otay Ranch Town Center in recent weeks.The Chula Vista Police Department is asking for the public’s help as they try to find the people suspected in a stabbing incident on Sept. 25 and an assault on Oct. 2 that happened at the mall on 2015 Birch Rd.In the Sept. 25 incident, at around 6 p.m., two people were approached by a group of four people, and then “three of the subjects began assaulting one of the victims,” police said.Police said one victim was stabbed in the back of the leg and had their backpack stolen. The other victim was not hurt, but one of the assailants took their cell phone.According to police, the incident was captured on video and shared on social media. The suspects in this case were described by police as Black male juveniles.In the Oct. 2 incident, a person was with friends at the mall when he was approached by about eight juveniles. Police said, “One of the suspects then punched the victim and a second suspect stole the victim’s Boston Red Sox baseball hat.
