At first, Hillary Slusser thought she had the flu.She hadn't been feeling well for a couple weeks but, after getting really sick at work, she went home and took not one, but three pregnancy tests. Just to be sure.Long story short, she was pregnant. But she wasn't the only one.14 nurses, two doctors and one social worker are all expectingBefore Slusser had even publicly announced her pregnancy, her friend and fellow nurse in the Emergency Department at Vanderbilt University's medical center posted her sonogram online.A week later, another nurse in their department posted that she was expecting, too.A week later, it was another nurse. Now, there are 17 people in her department who are pregnant -- 14 nurses, two doctors and one social worker -- all due between July and December. And, with others having had babies earlier in the year, Slusser said there would be over 20 births in the department by the end of 2019."By the time it got to be 17, everybody was just like, 'There is something going,'" Slusser told CNN. "But it was very exciting to be sharing this with all the girls."For the majority of the women, this will be their first child, which makes the occasion even more special.Everyone is pitching in so they can keep doing their jobsWith 17 pregnancies, though, comes 17 months-long absences from work. Slusser is taking 16 weeks off, but she said not everyone is that fortunate. Most are taking 12, and the department has already sent out an email asking for delivery dates in preparation for the absences to come. The department has been very supportive, Slusser said, with people taking on extra weight. Most of the women work in trauma, which she said can be labor intensive. Staff members must wear heavy protective gear beneath their gown, along with gloves, a mask, an eye shield and a hairnet, all just to protect from blood and body fluids. Understandably, wearing all that while eight months pregnant can be a lot.The department has moved some of the women from working trauma because of their pregnancies, which Slusser said has been heartbreaking. But others in the department have been helping."Even our attending physicians help lift patients over so I don't have to do that," Slusser said. "Little things like that make us still be able to do our jobs."It's still stressful, and Slusser said she does get a bit more tired throughout her shift. But with all the support from her coworkers, she'll be ready for the big day. 2466

Attorney General William Barr is back on Capitol Hill Wednesday to testify at another hearing on the Justice Department budget that's sure to be filled with more swirling questions over special counsel Robert Mueller's report.Barr is appearing before a Senate Appropriations subcommittee one day after he testified before a House subcommittee and answered many -- though not all -- questions from lawmakers about the release of Mueller's nearly 400 page report. At the House hearing, Barr said he expected to release a redacted version of the Mueller report within a week, with plans to color-code redactions and provide an explanation for why material was not released publicly. But Barr sparred with House Democrats who pressed him on why he would not release grand jury material or provide the full, unredacted Mueller report to Congress."I don't intend at this stage to send the full, unredacted report to the committee," Barr said, adding that wouldn't ask a court to release grand jury material "Until someone shows me a provision" that allows it to be released. In the House, Barr was squaring off with Democrats who have subpoena power and have already authorized a subpoena in the Judiciary Committee to obtain the full Mueller report and underlying evidence. Democratic lawmakers expressed frustration after the hearing that Barr wouldn't answer certain questions, such as whether the White House had been briefed about the Mueller report. In the Republican-controlled Senate, the threat of a subpoena is significantly lower for Barr, but he'll still have to face off with Democratic senators who are likely to push him on the report redactions as well as his four-page summary of Mueller's conclusions.Three Democrats on the Commerce, Justice and Science Appropriations Subcommittee are also members of the Senate Judiciary Committee where will Barr will testify on the Mueller report next month, including the top Judiciary Committee Democrat Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California. Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham is also a member of the appropriations subcommittee and will question Barr Wednesday ahead of the May 1 hearing in his committee.Sen. Chris Coons of Delaware, one of the Democrats on both committees, told CNN this week that he wanted to ask Barr about "the thoroughness of his redactions.""If this is a 400-page report ... to send us a four-page summary that just talks about the high-level conclusions is potentially misleading," Coons said. "So I think it's important in our oversight role to release the full report to Congress."In addition to questions about the Mueller report, Barr is likely to be queried on the Justice Department lawsuit about the Affordable Care Act, as well as the Trump administration's immigration policies and family separation. 2792

An attorney says a Maryland man who was shot and killed by a police officer was asleep in his bedroom when police opened fire from outside his house. The 21-year-old man's girlfriend was also wounded. The Montgomery County Police Department said in a news release Friday that Duncan Socrates Lemp “confronted” police and was fatally shot by one of the officers early Thursday. An attorney for Lemp’s relatives said police couldn't have any justification for shooting Lemp based on what she has heard. Lemp's family says the warrant police obtained to search their Potomac home doesn’t mention any “imminent threat.” A police spokesman didn’t immediately respond to the family’s statement. 700

As guacamole-loving Americans expressed concern on Monday over a possible closure of the US/Mexico border, those who enjoy a less healthy treat or an adult beverage might also need to be concerned. According to the Office of the US Trade Representative, the US imports nearly billion a year in agricultural products. While fresh fruit totaled billion, and fresh vegetables totaled .5 billion annually, the US also imports hefty amounts of snack food, beer and wine from Mexico. According to federal figures, the US imports nearly .1 billion a year in snack food from Mexico. The US also imports nearly .3 billion in alcohol from our southern neighbors. A Bloomberg 690

An attorney for the estranged husband of a Connecticut mother who has been missing for more than a month doubled down on his theory that she may have disappeared in a "Gone Girl"-style escape from her life. The family and friends of Jennifer Dulos, 50, dismissed the suggestion that she staged her disappearance in a manner similar to the plot of the popular novel-turned-film.Monday marked one month since the mother of five was last seen in her 2017 Chevrolet Suburban in New Canaan. Friends reported her missing on May 24 after she failed to show up for appointments.Authorities found her car about three miles from the house where she had lived with her five children since splitting from her husband in 2017.Her estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, and his girlfriend pleaded not guilty to charges of evidence tampering and hindering prosecution in her disappearance and were released on bond earlier this month.Authorities said surveillance cameras captured someone resembling Fotis Dulos dumping garbage bags in trash cans that contained items stained with the missing mother's blood.State's Attorney Richard J. Colangelo told a judge that investigators found Fotis Dulos' DNA mixed with her blood in a faucet inside her home. But Fotis Dulos' lawyer offered another explanation for her disappearance, saying that they believe she left to cause hardship for her estranged husband."We have been provided a very dark 500-plus page novel Jennifer wrote,'' lawyer Norm Pattis said in a 1494
