The US Secret Service said it is reviewing an incident in which an agent blocked a CBS News reporter on Tuesday from questioning Jared Kushner, the President's son-in-law and a senior White House advisor, about the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.In video posted to Twitter by the journalist, Errol Barnett, a US Secret Service agent physically prevented him from questioning Kushner. The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a massive fire extinguisher recall that spans over 40 years and covers more than 120 models of fire extinguishers.According to the CPSC, it involves two styles of Kidde fire extinguishers: Plastic handle fire extinguishers and push button fire extinguishers. They may fail to discharge and the nozzle may detach.The 134 models were manufactured between Jan. 1, 1973 and Aug. 15, 2017, and includes models that have been previously recalled in March 2009 and February 2015.They were sold in red, white and silver and are either ABC- or BC-rated.According to the CPSC, there has been one death reported due to the recall. In 2014 emergency responders could not get the fire extinguishers to work during a car fire. While the dangerous plumes are forcing people inside along the West Coast, residents thousands of miles away in the East are seeing unusually hazy skies and remarkable sunsets.The wildfires racing across tinder-dry landscape in California, Idaho, Oregon and Washington are extraordinary, but the long reach of their smoke isn’t unprecedented. While there are only small pockets in the southeastern U.S. that are haze free, experts say the smoke poses less of a health concern for those who are farther away.The sun was transformed into a perfect orange orb as it set over New York City on Tuesday. Photographs of it sinking behind the skyline and glinting through tree leaves flooded social media. On Wednesday, New Jersey residents described a yellow tinge to the overcast skies, and weather forecasters were kept busy explaining the phenomenon and making predictions as to how long the conditions would last.On the opposite coast, air quality conditions were among some of the worst ever recorded. The RV industry, like every other sector of the travel industry, took a hit in business at the start of the coronavirus pandemic.“April was down about 30 to 35%,” said Jim Bracking.Bracking is the manager of the Loveland RV Resort in Colorado.“For every reservation we were gettingm we were getting a couple of cancellations,” Bracking added.However, about a month after a slew of cancellations came in, things have started to pick up significantly.“Reservations are up quite a bit,” said Bracking. “If you have been in the office, you could see the reservation clerks are very busy.”Vacationers started rebooking road trips as soon as Colorado and other states started to reopen.“You just got to get some form of normalcy back and yet be safe. This is one of the only ways we know how to do it,” said Suzie Limppo, who is vacationing in an RV at Loveland RV Resort.RV resorts, RV parks, and RV rentals are seeing a bounce back across the country.“We are now up over 1,000 percent from where we were in April,” said Jon Gray with RVshare.RVshare rents RV to vacationers and it’s just one RV rental company that has seen dramatic increases in rentals.“There is a premium on keeping your distance. There’s a premium on driving to where you want to go instead of flying, because people are afraid to get on airplanes right now,” said Gray. “So, we thought those things benefitted our business, but we didn’t realize it benefitted it as much as it has. The state of Oregon became the first in the nation to decriminalize small amounts of hard drugs like heroin and cocaine by overwhelmingly passing Measure 110 on Tuesday.According to The Oregonian, the measure will reduce misdemeanor drug possession to a non-criminal violation, punishable by measures similar to a traffic stop. Violators will be given a ticket and a 0 fine, or be given the option of being screened for a subtance abuse disorder.Those found with larger amounts of drugs, who would have previously been charged with a felony, will now face a misdemeanor charge. The measure also redirects tax revenue from the sale of legal marijuana in the state toward Addiction Recover Centers, where people are screened for drug use and can also receive treatment for drug addiction.Supporters of the measure say the new policy will reduce the state's jail population, and in particular, free many offenders of non-violent crimes.
