CHENGDU, June 29 (Xinhua) -- The current earthquake relief and rebuilding work have further displayed the nature and capabilities of the Communist Party of China (CPC), said Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping Sunday in a tour to quake-hit areas of Sichuan Province. BEIJING, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao and other senior leaders took part in a voluntary tree planting activity at the Olympic Forest Park here on Saturday. China's top legislator Wu Bangguo, Premier Wen Jiabao, top political advisor Jia Qinglin, as well as Li Changchun, Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, He Guoqiang, and Zhou Yongkang also planted trees at the park next to the national stadium, the main venue of the Beijing Olympic Games. The top negotiators discussed the specific principles of setting up a verification and inspection mechanism, as well as economic and energy aid to the DPRK, the Chinese delegation's spokesman Qin Gang told reporters. The six parties achieved some progress on the verification mechanism, reaching a principled consensus," Qin said, without elaborating. "The specific consensus will be announced very soon." Despite different interests, concerns and stances, the parties were striving for issuing a joint document at the end of this round of discussion, Qin said. He said the top negotiators' meeting, which started Thursday afternoon, went smoothly with "sound atmosphere" and "high efficiency." BEIJING, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Communist Party of China (CPC) chief Hu Jintao has urged Party members to learn the theory on socialism with Chinese characteristics more conscientiously. Hu, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, made the remark at a seminar which was participated in Sunday afternoon by members of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. Prof. Yan Shuhan from the Party School of the CPC Central Committee and prof. Qin Xuan from the Renmin University of China delivered speeches at the seminar and put forward their views on applying the theory into practice. Presiding over the seminar, Hu said the theory on socialism with Chinese characteristics is a fundamental guideline of the Party and government for social and economic construction.
