LIVINGSTON, La. (AP) — The 2019 "American Idol" winner Laine Hardy says he's been diagnosed with COVID-19. The 19-year-old singer from Livingston, Louisiana, made the announcement Sunday on social media, saying it's not what he expected on the first day of summer. Hardy says his symptoms are mild and he's recovering under home quarantine. Hardy sang the national anthem at the swearing in of his local sheriff last Friday. He also recently completed a virtual tour that was seen by more than 2 million viewers. Acoustic versions of his new songs "Ground I Grew Up On" and "Let There Be Country" are to debut on Friday. 628

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Warner Bros. says it is delaying the release of Christopher Nolan's sci-fi thriller "Tenet" until Aug. 12, the latest delay for a film that many theater owners were hoping would kick-start the coronavirus-delayed summer season. The delay moves "Tenet" out of July, a month many theater chains had been eyeing reopening. The delay comes as coronavirus cases are surging in many U.S. locales. Warner Bros. stressed the need for flexibility when the film is released. It will now arrive on a Wednesday, which the studio says it hopes will allow it to find an audience. 592

LONDONDERRY, N.H. — The coronavirus has reached into the heart of the White House once more, less than a week before Election Day, as it scorches the nation and the president’s top aide says “we're not going to control the pandemic.”Officials are scoffing at the notion of dialing back in-person campaigning despite positive tests from several aides to Vice President Mike Pence, who leads the White House coronavirus task force.White House chief of staff Mark Meadows was pressed by CNN to explain why the pandemic cannot be reined and responded, "because it is a contagious virus just like the flu.” 609

Looking to camp out on the couch and take down a show that will keep you up way too late and help you procrastinate from doing more important tasks? LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jimmy Kimmel will host the first major Hollywood awards ceremony of the coronavirus pandemic — but just how the Emmy Awards will be held remains cloudy. Kimmel acknowledged that in Tuesday's announcement, saying it was unclear how or where the Sept. 20 ceremony will be held. ABC said details on the show's production will be announced soon. Choosing Kimmel to emcee the ceremony reverses course from last year's no-host Emmys. The entertainment industry is just beginning to restart production following a months-long shutdown aimed at curtailing the spread of COVID-19. Nominations for the 72nd prime-time Emmys will be announced by the TV academy on July 28. 688
