SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The FBI is investigating following a hazmat situation in La Jolla Thursday afternoon. According to authorities, the incident started around 1 p.m. on the 9400 block of La Jolla Farms Road near UCSD and the Scripps Reserve trail. Throughout the afternoon, people who appeared to be workers at the home could be seen sitting outside with bags wrapped around their lower legs. The unidentified substance is being cleaned up by hazmat crews and, at this time, it's unclear what led to the situation. Neighbors say the home was being rented out and a new tenant recently moved in.The Department of Environmental Health said they found a contaminant and that it is contained with no threat to the community.The final Hazmat crews left around 7:30 p.m. 798

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The former Navy sailor accused of killing four people by driving his truck off the Coronado Bridge and onto a crowd attended a motions hearing Friday.Richard Sepolio faces four counts of gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI. His defense team argued to throw out the DUI charge, as well as crucial evidence, including initial conversations between Sepolio and his arresting officers. The judge concluded that both issues would be allowed in the upcoming trial.The nephew of two of the victims wants answers. I'm trying to move here,” Contreras said. "My family hasn't celebrated Thanksgiving in two years. Life is just not the same. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The City of Poway Friday honored the memory of Lori Lynn Gilbert-Kaye, who was killed last April in a shooting at a local synagogue, by renaming a street after her.Many gathered Friday for the unveiling of Lori Lynn Lane (formerly Eva Drive). It's located in the Green Valley Neighborhood, off Stone Canyon Drive. Lori Kaye lived at that intersection. “To be able to dedicate this street to her memory means a lot to us in Poway,” says Poway Mayor Steve Vaus.RELATED: Family discovers synagogue shooting victim's random act of kindnessNeighbors and friends came together and petitioned for the change. Vaus says it's rare for the city to rename a street after someone. The last one dates back to the 1980s. But Vaus says the city had no hesitation with this renaming. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The Chicano Federation of San Diego County distributed hundreds of COVID-19 prevention kits in Barrio Logan to help prevent the spread of the disease in one of the county's hardest hit communities.The Chicano Federation partnered up with several local business to help provide over 500 kits to residents. Kits include children and adult face masks, disinfectant wipes, hand sanitizer, and thermometers.According to our ABC 10News heat map, Barrio Logan's zip codes have reported some of the highest number of coronavirus cases in San Diego County. Data from local health officials shows Latinos and Hispanics make up over 60 percent of the number of positive cases in San Diego County."We think it's important to send the message that it's really important to stay alert, stay aware, to still follow the county and state messaging around COVID-19 including wearing masks and physical distancing," said Nancy Maldonado, President and CEO of The Chicano Federation of San Diego County. 1012
