(KGTV) - 10News spoke Friday with the South San Diego County boy whose generous act on Halloween became a viral video.Kim Manalo reached out after her security cameras caught the boy adding some of his candy to an empty bowl on her front porch in Chula Vista.The surveillance video of the boy in his Grim Reaper costume went viral.  On Friday, 10News identified him as 15-year-old Lawrence Malot, a freshman at Olympian High School who moved from the Philippines to Chula Vista four years ago.RELATED: Kids pay it forward on HalloweenMalot explained his good deed. “It was still early and when I looked and I kind of felt bad for the other trick-or-treaters,” Malot told 10News reporter Joe Little.Malot’s trick or treat bag may soon be replenished.  People have called 10News from all over the country, saying they want to give him candy."I feel kind of proud of myself.  I just feel proud.  I'm so happy," Malot said. 972

(CNS) - The body of a woman who apparently had been shot to death was found Wednesday in a patch of shrubbery near the Otay River.A passer-by made the discovery in a field behind a Smart & Final store in the 3100 block of Main Street in Chula Vista about 6:30 a.m., according to police.Preliminary evidence at the scene -- notably, spent shell casings -- indicated that the woman, whose identity was not immediately available but police described her as a Hispanic woman in her 20's, was slain, Lt. CHULA VISTA, Calif., (KGTV)- It has been one week since the brutal attack and rape of a young woman at Otay Park. But Chula Vista Police say their investigation is far from over. Now nearby schools are reminding parents to stay vigilant. Chula Vista Police said last Monday, a woman in her 20’s was exercising on the stairs at Otay Park. But on her way down, someone pushed her from behind, knocking her unconscious.The perpetrator then raped her, stole her things, and ran.When she woke up, she managed to flag someone down at the park, who then called 9-1-1.It has been seven days into the investigation. But the Chula Vista police department says the perpetrator is still at large. Detectives are now reviewing and enhancing several pieces of video evidence.They are also waiting to get the results of the victim’s rape kit. Last week, Otay Elementary School Pirincipal, Monica Castillo sent a letter to parents addressing the recent crime that happened next to school property. 1009

CHULA VISTA (KGTV) -- The City of Chula Vista is asking for the public’s help identifying those responsible for vandalizing several city parks.On November 10, Rohr Park and Terra Nova Park were damaged by vandals driving vehicles on the park grounds and soccer fields.RELATED: Chula Vista's Discovery Park damaged by vandals driving on turfThe city says this is the second time in a month parks have been vandalized. In October, Discovery Park and Marisol Park were also damaged in the same way.The city says this type of damage makes the fields unusable. China's Tiangong-1 space lab re-entered the Earth's atmosphere around 8.15 a.m. Monday (8:15 p.m. ET Sunday) in a fiery fall, China's Manned Space Agency said.Tiangong-1 plummeted into the middle of the South Pacific, the space agency said."Most parts were burned up in the re-entry process," the agency said.The out-of-control 40-foot long Tiangong-1, or "Heavenly Palace," is one of China's highest profile space projects. The unmanned space lab was launched in September 2011 as a prototype for China's ultimate space goal: a permanent space station that is expected to launch around 2022.But the Chinese government told the United Nations in May 2017 that its space lab had "ceased functioning" in March 2016, without saying exactly why.The incident was embarrassing for China's space program but it hasn't delayed its progress.
