A Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, neighborhood had plenty to talk about Monday morning!A large gator was found in a swimming pool at a home in the Marlwood Estates community on Graemoor Terrace, and had to be removed.Video from a neighbor shows a trapper hauling the huge reptile out of the pool and dragging it across the lawn.It's unclear how the gator got into the fenced yard, or how big it is.Vanessa Schultz said she was walking her kids to the bus stop around 7:15 a.m. Monday when she was told a large alligator was in her neighbor's pool. "It was big, really big," said Schultz, who captured images of the alligator. "I was totally in panic. When I saw the alligator I was scared."Schultz said she’s lived in Marlwood Estates for three years and has only seen a gator there once before. She said the an alligator was spotted in a lake last year behind her property.Schultz, a mother of three, thinks the gator in the pool was likely 9 feet long and over 300 pounds."It totally concerns me. So now I’m scared and I don’t want to leave my kids outside playing in the backyard," said Schultz. "I also need to check the pool and check before going outside the house."The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said the gator was 9 feet long, and was relocated to a farm."It concerns me. A Sacramento police officer has died after being shot while on duty and helping a woman retrieve her belongings from a home, according to Sacramento Police."We are devastated tonight," Deputy Chief Dave Peletta said at a press conference early Thursday morning. "There are no words to convey the depth of sadness we feel or how heartbroken we are for the family of our young, brave officer."Police were called on Wednesday about a disturbance between a man and a woman, according to Sacramento Police Sgt. Vance Chandler. They met the woman involved at another location and went back to the home with her to gather some of her things, Chandler said.While officers were at the scene, officer Tara O'Sullivan was shot, according to Peletta. The suspect, armed with a rifle, continued shooting, and the other officers on the scene had to take cover.Sacramento police brought in an armored vehicle to rescue O'Sullivan, who was taken to a hospital where she died, Chandler said.The woman who had been involved in the earlier disturbance was able to get out safe, according to CNN affiliate 1097

Activists with the environmental organization Greenpeace are currently hanging from a bridge from Houston in an attempt to block a shipping channel known for transporting oil.According to KHOU-TV, a portion of the Houston Ship Channel was blocked on Thursday as activists hung from the Fred Hartman Bridge. KHOU reports that 11 people were hanging from the bridge.Greenpeace took credit for the incident in a series of tweets, using the hashtag #PeopleVsOil.Greenpeace says it plans to continue the protest for 24 hours.Car traffic on the bridge is slow but moving.Greenpeace's demonstration comes on the same day as a Democrat debate that will take place in Houston this evening. 692

An Amber Alert has been issued for a Georgia toddler who was abducted by her non-custodial parent.Baylee Peeples, 1, was last seen wearing a pink shirt with hearts. She has blonde hair, blue eyes, and weighs about 25 pounds. She went missing Thursday in Jefferson, Georgia.She was abducted by her non-custodial parent, Robert Peeples, a 39-year-old man who is 5 feet 10 inches tall, about 190 pounds, with blue eyes and buzz cut hair.The two may be traveling in a white GMC van.
