RMH Franchise Holdings, a company that operates a number of Applebee's restaurants, announced this week that customers who used credit cards at some locations may have been subject to a data breach. "Upon learning of a potential incident, RMH promptly launched an investigation and obtained the help of leading cyber security forensics firms," the company said in a statement. "Based on the experts’ investigation, RMH believes that unauthorized software placed on the point-of-sale system at certain RMH-owned and -operated Applebee’s restaurants was designed to capture payment card information and may have affected a limited number of purchases made at those locations."The company said that customers’ names, credit or debit card numbers, expiration dates and card verification codes were subject to the breach. Customers who used Applebee's tabletop payment system, or its online ordering system were not subject to the breach.RMH said that customers should closely monitor their payment card statements, and check for any unauthorized transactions. If customers notice any unauthorized transactions, they should contact their bank.RMH said that it learned of the incident on February 13, and has since contacted law enforcement. "RMH is continuing to closely monitor its systems and review its security measures to help prevent something like this from happening again," the company said. The company did not say why it waited three weeks before notifying the public. Many of the affected transactions took place from December 6 through January 2. Avery Monsen took us behind the scenes of the "Super Secret Secret Club."Monsen has a lot of day jobs these days. He writes and illustrates books for children and adults, he's done some acting and he's been in commercials. But these days, Hollywood isn't doing much. One day a friend of his asked him to make a video to help entertain his own kids, who were quite literally climbing the walls.“He knows that I have this sort of grab bag of circus and magic tricks and skills that are very rarely actually useful in life, but they are useful in entertaining children,” said Monsen.And so, the Super Secret Secret Club was born. You can find it online, on Instagram or on Instagram TV, and it is full of good, clean fun.“It’s just a bunch of cardboard and duct tape, but there’s also all these strings that go everywhere we’re probably going to lose our security deposit on this place, whoops,” said Monsen.There's no market research about what kids like and Avery describes himself as a someone who is quite possibly still a kid.“I think I’m just making things that I like is the truth, and my taste is the taste of a 4 and 9-year-old. The things that I think are funny are the things a 4-year-old thinks are funny,” said Monsen.He also made activity pages for kids. There's puzzles and games and even a Super Secret Secret Club membership card.“I knew that kids were going to get bored and antsy in the quarantine times. I felt the least I could do is make some fun videos for them," said Monsen.Monsen isn't in it for the clicks, likes or comments. He's purely helping kids laugh, for free. And admittedly, he says, he needed a project and he happens to have a garage full of crafts as well as a huge paper maché pet rock named Anthony, who talks, by the way.“Which maybe means I’m a bit of a hoarder. I have a lot of cardboard. We had just moved into this new apartment which had a garage. Before that, I was doing projects in the living room which made my wife very sad,” said Monsen.His content has kids everywhere giggling and Monsen says, “when you’re devoting your entire week to making a silly video and you’re not getting paid for any of it, getting videos of kids enjoying it and doing the activities and laughing really, really makes it worthwhile.”Certainly, it’s a worthwhile effort from a guy who has all the tricks, trades and a huge knack for making all the little ones laugh during a time when giggles are hard to come by. 2603

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California Gov. Gavin Newsom nominated the first openly gay Black man to the state Supreme Court.Newsom nominated Martin Jenkins to the court on Monday. The 66-year-old would be the third Black person to serve on the court if he is confirmed by the Commission on Judicial Appointments.Jenkins would replace Justice Ming W. Chin, who retired at the end of August.Jenkins is a former federal civil rights attorney who prosecuted cross burnings and police misconduct cases under President Ronald Reagan.He was appointed by Republicans and Democrats to four different judgeships. 609

(KGTV) - A bill working its way through the California State Legislature could require bike lanes and other "active transportation" amenities to be built on state-owned roads.Senate Bill 127 states that "any capital improvement project located in an active transportation place type on a state highway or a local street crossing a state highway that is funded through the program, shall include new pedestrian and bicycle facilities, or improve existing facilities, as part of the project."It means any time Caltrans wants to repave or resurface a part of a State Highway or a highway overpass or underpass, they must add some kind of bike/walking lane or safety measures.San Diego Legislator Tasha Boerner Horvath co-wrote the bill. She sent the following statement to 10News:“My district is a hub for all things that involve outdoor recreation — biking, walking, jogging, skateboarding — you name it and my constituents enjoy doing it throughout our beautiful district. SB 127 is a major move forward in identifying and funding important bike and pedestrian paths to connect people with the places they want to go. In addition, it will bring us an important step further on ensuring highway overpasses in my district have the bike and walking facilities they need to connect inland communities to the coast. This is important for safe routes to schools for our kids as well as folks accessing our stunning beaches.”Members of the San Diego Bicycle Coalition support the bill, saying it will make it easier for people to commute to and from work. They also say it will help fund more "active transportation" projects."The funding is always an issue," says SDBC Advocacy Coordinator Jennifer Hunt. (AP) — An investigation has found many California state agencies have failed to provide sexual harassment training for all their supervisors as required by state law.Capital Public Radio reported Tuesday its investigation found nearly 60 percent of agencies surveyed by the State Personnel Board did not provide the training, up from 25 percent in 2016 and 32 percent in 2017.The public radio station reports that since 2016, the State Personnel Board has identified nearly 1,800 state government supervisors at dozens of agencies who did not receive the required training.A state law requires businesses with 50 or more workers and all state agencies to provide two hours of sexual harassment training to new supervisors within six months of being hired or promoted. 794
