SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — From California to Maine, breweries across the country are stepping up to help California fire victims.The effort started with the Sierra Nevada brewery. While their facility was spared by the Camp Fire, communities around it were devastated.Sierra Nevada founder Ken Grossman reached out to fellow brewers to join him in the disaster relief effort, making their ‘Resilience Butte County Proud IPA’ recipe available to those who want to help. The brewery is asking that 100 percent of profits go to fire relief efforts. So far over 1,200 breweries have pledged to make and sell the beer.“I’ve never seen anything on this scale,” said Jim Millea, brewmaster at OB Brewery. “That’s a lot of beer being made for a good cause, it’s pretty sweet!”Millea says he didn’t hesitate to join the effort.“Who wouldn’t want to be a part of a good cause?” said Millea. He’s one of many in the San Diego region who will be brewing Resilience IPA. Millea hopes to have his on tap at the OB Brewery in a few weeks. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — For several months, San Diegans were invited to weigh in on the Port Master Plan proposal. It's the Port of San Diego's first comprehensive update in nearly 40 years, aiming to reflect changes in the needs and priorities of the region. The Port manages 34 miles of San Diego Bay and Waterfront along Chula Vista, Coronado, Imperial Beach, National City, and San Diego. When the Port published the proposed master plan in April, several communities voiced major concerns; two of the most vocal being Coronado and Point Loma residents. "We have this little slice of history, and I think it's our obligation to preserve, so it's enjoyed generations to come," said Cameron Lilley, a multi-generational Point Loma native.For months, Lilley has been garnering community support in opposition to some of the proposals impacting Shelter Island. "We started digging into it and quickly realized that there were so many points that really didn't consider the locals in the restructure of our community," said Lilley. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Documents show the man accused of pummeling a teenage Syrian refugee on a trolley car has a history of run-ins with authorities.On Oct. 15, Adrian Vergara was accused of the crime after approaching the teen and asking him if he's Mexican."He responded, no I am Arab. He does not speak a lot of English, and with that response the person began to pummel him in the face," Geneviéve Jones-Wright, Legal Director, Partnership for the Advancement of New Americans, said.Tuesday, San Diego Police said they had arrested Vergara on suspicion of assault with force and violation of civil rights.RELATED: Man accused of attacking Syrian refugee aboard trolley car arrested10News dug into Vergara's background and found a history of violent incidents. In 2012, court documents say Vergara threatened a man with a billy club. He did community service in the South Metro Career Center. A letter says he worked well there with special needs students as well as general students. A certificate also showed he completed a 12-hour anger management program in 2013 and was called an outstanding professional candidate.RELATED: Teen attacked on trolley in possible hate crimeIn 2015, a case was dismissed accusing Vergara of attacking another man. And in 2016, he was charged with grand theft and burglary for breaking into the Central Library.Later that year, documents say Vergara violated a restraining order against his ex-girlfriend, kicking her front door, texting her and in a phone call, cursing at her and saying, "if you don't talk to me I'm going to go to your job and cause a scene. I don't care about my life." Documents show he called her 20 times in 30 minutes.Court documents also show a carjacking charge at the beginning of 2017.In October 2017, Vergara was charged for beating up a man and given a stay away order from the MTS Imperial Transit Center.The most recent document shows he violated a court order, put in place to prevent domestic violence in January 2019. 1996

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Federal indictments were unsealed Thursday charging 75 people nationwide, 40 in San Diego, with involvement in an international money-laundering scheme.Prosecutors said those charged have been involved with crimes ranging from drug distribution to money laundering.Investigators seized more than million, 95 kilograms of methamphetamine, 63 kilograms of heroin, 10 kilograms of fentanyl, 92 kilograms of cocaine, 252 kilograms of marijuana, and 20 firearms, including semiautomatic assault rifles and handguns.RELATED: Ex-MLB pitcher Esteban Loaiza now faces federal drug charge"We have siphoned the cash and the life out of a San Diego-based international money laundering organization with ties to the Sinaloa Cartel," U.S. Attorney Adam Braverman said.
