ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) — Escondido Police say they've arrested one person in connection with a fatal collision that left four people dead last month.Police obtained an arrest warrant for 28-year-old Ashley Rene Williams, of Escondido, on Thursday and took her into custody at her home. Williams has been charged with four counts of murder and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.Williams is accused of being behind the wheel of a 2014 Mazda 3 that struck and killed four people at San Pasqual Valley Rd. at Oak Hill Dr. just before 8:30 p.m. on May 5, police said.Police say Williams' vehicle was traveling northbound when it hit the group, which included a 33-year-old man, 11-year-old boy, 50-year-old woman, and 10-year-old boy. Police told 10News the boys are brothers and the female victim was their grandmother. The man was believed to have been dating the children's mother, according to police. A GoFundMe campaign for funeral expenses is currently running to help the family.Williams was hospitalized with minor injuries after the crash and initially, police told 10News that alcohol or drugs were not believed to have been a factor.The California Department of Motor Vehicles says Williams was driving on a suspended license during the crash. Her driver’s license was suspended on Feb. 18, 2020, for driving with excessive blood alcohol, according to the DMV. (KGTV) -- A woman was arrested in connection with the death of a man in an Escondido apartment, police said Wednesday.At around 7 p.m. Tuesday, a woman called 911 to report that her roommate was dead in an apartment in the 600 block of N. Quince Street, according to Escondido police.Responding officers arrived to find an unidentified man “unresponsive with obvious signs of trauma,” police said.The man was pronounced dead at the scene.Escondido police added: “The woman who had called 911 was present at the apartment. Officers determined that she lived at the apartment with the deceased man. They have been involved in a dating relationship and she had been recently arrested for domestic abuse charges. She was out on bond after being booked into jail on that previous case.”Amid their investigation, police arrested the woman -- 52-year-old Shelley Reaves -- on suspicion of murder and booked her into the Vista Detention Facility.No other details were released as the incident remains under investigation.Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Escondido police. 1109

FALLBROOK (CNS) - One person was killed on Interstate 15 near Fallbrook early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash that may have involved alcohol, authorities said.California Highway Patrol officers were first alerted to the crash shortly after 5 a.m. when a truck driver reported seeing a damaged car with an injured person inside stop momentarily at the truck scales in Rainbow before continuing on northbound I-15, CHP Officer Mark Latulippe said.Officers called hospitals in Temecula and Murrieta to check if there were any walk-in patients who could have been involved in the crash, and eventually were alerted that apparent victims had turned up at Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta, according to a CHP incident log.One passenger involved in the crash, identified as a 20-year-old man from Winchester, was pronounced dead at the hospital, Latulippe said. Another passenger, a 21-year-old Torrance man, sustained moderate injuries and the driver, a 23-year-old man also from Torrance, was not injured.The driver was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, Latulippe said.Officers were investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and determined it occurred on northbound I-15 past state Route 76.Evidence suggested that the car struck a call box, lost control toward the center divider and may have returned to the right shoulder before continuing on the freeway, Latulippe said.Officers asked anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the CHP Border Communications Center at (858) 637-3800. 1538

(KGTV) -- Police in Escondido are joining law enforcement throughout the state in cracking down on distracted driving throughout April.Throughout the month, the city is deploying extra traffic officers thanks to grant-funded resources. Violators will be stopped and cited with fines set at 2 for first-time offenders.On April 5 and April 13, law enforcement officials all over the state are set to step up distracted driving enforcement.According to authorities, officers have issued hundreds of thousands of citations over the past three years to those texting or calling while driving.Recent legislation has even gone as far as to make it illegal to use a smartphone’s apps while driving."California’s distracted driving laws have been saving lives for a decade now,” said former State Senator Joe Simitian, who authored the state’s hands-free and no-texting laws. “Every day, somewhere in California, someone is sitting down to dinner with their family who wouldn't have made it through the day without these laws on the books. That’s tremendously gratifying.”Data from 2017 shows that nearly 22,000 were involved in distracted driving crashes throughout California.“Traffic safety has consistently been a top priority in Escondido,” said Chief Craig Carter. “If our enforcement and education campaign to eliminate distracted driving saves even one life, I would consider that a success.” 1420

ENGLEWOOD, Colo -- Englewood School District confirmed it is investigating a "fight club" after a video on social media from one of its middle schools made its way into the public light. Scripps station KMGH in Denver received a video of two students at Englewood Middle School fighting, and that parent is concerned her child might be next. According to that parent, who wishes to remain anonymous, there are "fight club social media pages" with videos from fights at Englewood Middle School. One of those videos was recorded on April 5. The video shows one student assaulting another, according to officials at Englewood Schools. The district said the student responsible is now facing disciplinary and legal action. Englewood Police Department sent a statement that one girl was issued a summons for assault. KMGH was not able to find the social media pages, but the district confirmed it is aware of the social media groups and are trying to find those who are responsible for those pages to hold them accountable. The mother who contacted KMGH said through text that those social media pages spread that her child may be the next target and she's "petrified to send her back to school." The district said it will be increasing its security presence at the Englewood Campus as a result.  1349
