LEMON GROVE, Calif. (KGTV) - A local city councilman is making a desperate plea for tips tonight after his wife was attacked outside their home. It happened just off Palm Street after 5:30 a.m. Saturday. A disturbing picture of the incident was painted in a Facebook post by Lemon Grove City Councilman David Arambula. He writes that his wife was "brutally attacked' while going to the trash can. He adds that the attacker, "opened our gate, then hit her over the hit her over the head with a block of wood. This was completely unprovoked and unexpected."One neighbor described her as traumatized, conscious and suffering a head wound. Deputies say the 38-year-old woman escaped into her home, while the man ran off. The motive remains a big mystery. Neighbors say they've had issues with people wandering the area, high on something."There is a sober living facility a few blocks away. We've had a few incidents of people in their own zone, yelling and screaming - but nothing violent," said neighbor Tim Bossard.Arambula posted on Facebook that his wife is "getting better."The attacker is described as a black man about 30 years old, 5'9", and 175 pounds. He was wearing a white shirt, dark denim shorts, high socks, white shoes, sunglasses and a blue hat. VALLEY CENTER, Calif. (KGTV) — A fiery plane crash in Guatemala left a North County family without a husband and father. Luke Sullivan, 28, was killed after his plane crashed near Chimaltenango, located northwest of Guatemala City. Luke's wife, Ashley, says they had recently moved there three weeks ago, after Luke got his dream job, as a missionary pilot. He was working with a group operating in Guatemala. Luke would fly missionary personnel to various villages. He was working to become a missionary himself to speak to the different communities. His plane went down on Thursday, June 27. Ashley says he was making a landing, but something went wrong. "We were waiting for him, because it looked like he was just going to turn around, making a go-around approach," she said. "I hear an explosion and see more smoke." Emergency crews pulled Luke out of the plane before it exploded. His passenger had jumped out of the plane. Both men were severely burned. Luke was taken to the hospital but died overnight. His passenger survived and is currently being treated at a burn center in Dallas. "Luke was an extremely good pilot, and very experienced," Ashley said. She says he's been flying for more than nine years. "What we kind of pieced together — my father is a pilot also — is that something caught fire in the cockpit. It was very quick because I saw his landing and it looked perfectly normal." An investigation into the crash is ongoing. The Sullivans have three young children, twins that are three years old, and a one year old. His wife is also five months pregnant. The family has started a GoFundMe for funeral expenses. They've also started a GoFundMe to help pay for the family of the other man in the crash, to help pay for his hospital bills. 1783

VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A young boy was airlifted to the hospital Tuesday night following a hit-and-run. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the crash happened on the 1000 block of Mar Vista Drive around 5 p.m. Lt. Ted Greenawald said a white sedan struck the 12-year-old before leaving the scene. Reports indicate that a second vehicle may have also hit the boy. That driver is said to have remained at the scene. The boy was taken to the Rady Children’s Hospital with injuries to his leg and cuts on his face. The child was conscious and responsive while being treated at the scene, Greenawald said. An initial investigation indicated that the vehicle that first struck the boy was a 2019-2020 white Toyota sedan. “The sedan should have damage to the right mirror and possible front-end damage,” the department said in a news release.
