SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Three women were rescued from a Blacks Beach cliff early Thursday.The three women, all from East County, were stuck on a cliff in the Box Canyon area of La Jolla just after 8 a.m., according to San Diego Fire-Rescue and lifeguards. Fire crews said the women became stuck just above the beach, prompting crews to use a rope system to hoist them down."As you can see, even using a rope system to get down to the beach is challenging because of the steep and slippery cliff conditions," SDFD said in a Facebook post. 540

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Thousands of people enjoyed San Diego County beaches, despite the ongoing Beach Hazard Warnings.The National Weather Service announced there would be high surf, high tides, and strong rip currents on the San Diego County coastline. This Beach Hazard Warning continues until Sunday. Whether you're playing, laying, or even working on this July 4th holiday, spending time at Mission Beach was a dream come true. Especially if you were the Newman family, escaping the Phoenix heat. "When we left, I think it was 114 degrees," Bryant Newman said. They said it just doesn't compare. "We used to hang out a lot at the resorts there locally [in Phoenix], but we have been coming to California for Fourth of July for the last for five or six years," Newman said.But let's not forget about the Beach Hazard Warnings, still in effect until Sunday. "They did warn us about high surf before I left the hotel this morning," visitor from LA, Saira Kinuthia said. Kinuthia is not letting her two boys out of sight. She said while they are here for fun, safety comes first. "We had our talk, and if the lifeguard says that we need to come out of the water, then we have to come out of the water," Kinuthia said. Also keeping a close eye, there was a large police presence along the beaches and boardwalk. While most of the patrols were for alcohol, officers were also regulating the new e-scooter rules that took place on July 1st. Riders must slow down to 8 miles per hour on the boardwalk. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The parents of more than 600 migrant children still haven’t been found, more than two and a half years after thousands of children were separated from their parents at the border.The separations happened from 2017 to 2018, as part of President Trump’s zero tolerance policy.According to a tweet from the ACLU, the parents of 666 migrant children have not been found, that number is over 100 more than what was reported during a court hearing in late October.The zero tolerance policy started in 2017, when over 2,700 children were separated from their parents after crossing the U.S. - Mexico border. The policy was ended by San Diego federal Judge Dana Sabraw in 2018.Last month, the same judge asked the Trump administration to do more to help find the children’s parents.Richard Villasana is the founder of Forever Homes for Foster Kids, a San Diego charity that helps locate families of children in the U.S. foster care system, often times working in Latin American countries.“Some of these children will never be reunited with their parents because there was just not enough information to work with,” says Villasana.The ACLU says the children’s parents are believed to be in their home countries. Villasana says the process of finding relatives in other countries is very complicated, often times only having a last name or a city to work with. Other times, Villasana says, volunteers have to depend on the child’s memory for information, which can be challenging if they are too young.“Depending upon their age, they’re probably not going to be of any help to help the attorneys with ACLU and those non-profits to connect them to their parents,” explains Villasana.As reunification efforts continue, Villasana expects that it will be years before these children’s parents are found and he says it’s likely some will never be located.Another court hearing is scheduled in San Diego on December 4th. 1932

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego Police Department is investigating a stabbing in Encanto after a victim was found with stab wounds.Witnesses tell 10News a fight broke out between two males near the intersection of 65th Street and Wunderlin Avenue, across the street from Encanto Elementary School. Their ages are unknown. One male was stabbed at the scene, he was found near the park and recreation center where children were playing, according to witnesses. The second male fled before police arrived, police caught up to him and arrested him on Massachusetts Avenue.   615
