Providing this resource will enable our students to get some rest without having to constantly fear for their safety.”The proposal isn't without some opposition, getting mixed reviews from at least one school district.The Los Rios Community College District is calling the bill a “one size fits all” mandate that may not work for all of the state's campuses. Costs to implement the program are projected to be significant as it will require schools to increase overnight security staffing, custodial and utility costs, and the potential of threat of lawsuits for persons injured on campus parking lots during the evening hours.“Mandate cost claims are never fully reimbursed: Mandates are reimbursed only after costs are incurred and often times do not reflect the actual costs incurred in these activities," said officials with The Los Rios Community College District in Sacramento.Some students at San Diego Community College said the bill may exacerbate limited parking availability on campuses where parking is already difficult to find. "If it was during the day, or something like that, then it would be inconvenient for people trying to find parking or take the courses here," said Daniel Silva, a San Diego Community College student. "But overnight, it seems pretty harmless."San Diego Community College District officials are supportive of the idea, but would like to see some changes to the specifics. John Jenkins has tested positive for COVID-19, the school announced Friday.According to the school, Jenkins was in self-isolation this week after learning that a colleague "with whom he has been in regular contact" tested positive for the virus. A subsequent test revealed that Jenkins had also tested positive for the virus."My symptoms are mild and I will continue to work from home," Jenkins said in a statement. Tropical Depression Thirteen formed over the Atlantic late Wednesday night, and according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) the storm is expected to strengthen into Tropical Storm Laura on Thursday.Thirteen is about 830 miles east-southeast of the Northern Leeward Islands, according to NHC’s 8 a.m. update. Tyler Glenn, lead singer of the popular band Neon Trees, is recovering after suffering a stroke last week.In a post to Instagram on Monday, Glenn, 36, said that he woke up Thursday feeling "foggy and not seeing clearly out of my right eye."Glenn wrote that he held off going to the hospital to see if his condition would improve, but visited an ophthalmologist when he woke up the next morning feeling the same way.The doctor found a retinal edema in Glenn's eye and told him he had suffered a stroke. Glenn was admitted to Intermountain Medical Center for cardiology and neurological tests."I’m quite freaked out being 36, ostensibly healthy and having this happen." said Glenn. "I’m still awaiting reasons why, although my labs and the results show a clean bill of health in my heart and blood."Glenn says he still has cloudy vision in his eye, but was told the condition could dissipate.Glenn ended the post with a health recommendation for all his fans."I appreciate the love and support, and hope I can at least get an answer as to why this occurred.
