POTRERO, Calif. (KGTV) - A man died in a house fire in the rural East County community of Potrero early Monday morning.Cal Fire, San Diego County Fire, the Sheriff's Department Bomb Arson unit and ATF agents were called to the home at Coyote Holler Road and Round Potrero Road about 7:15 a.m.First responders tried CPR, but couldn't save the man. Cal Fire officials said they were working to identify the victim, who was found unconscious just outside the home. (KGTV) - Poway synagogue shooting suspect John Earnest should not have been able to buy the gun used in the April attack, according to state law.California Fish and Wildlife officials confirmed to 10News that the hunting license that Earnest, 19, used to get around the state's age limit of 21 was invalid at the time of purchase.Earnest picked up the AR-15 style weapon used in the attack from San Diego Guns on April 26, a day before he attacked worshipers at the Chabad of Poway, killing congregant Lori Kaye and injuring three others. Search warrants show that Earnest did have a hunting license but it was not valid until July 1, 2019. On Tuesday, an employee at San Diego Guns declined an interview but said "We did everything properly. Police arrested a Gilbert, Arizona man accused of stealing nearly ,000 worth of items from Home Depot. Chandler (Arizona) Police report that from February 2012 to February 2018, Antoine Elkik, 57, made nearly ,000 by stealing goods from Home Depot stores in Maricopa County. Police say Elkik would legitimately purchase products, put them in his car, then immediately go back to the store with his receipt and select the same products and exit the store. If he were questioned, he would show the sales associate the receipt from the prior purchase.
