DENVER — A mom-to-be is counting her blessings after receiving a generous tip from “Catfish” host Nev Schulman, who has the same birthday as her due date.Zulia Reyes works at the Smashburger at the Denver International Airport. She’s been a server for nearly a decade and has worked at the burger restaurant for more than a year.She said she’s met celebrities while working, but her connection with Schulman took it to another level when he asked her when she was due.“I told him Sept. 26," she said. "He’s like, 'That’s my birthday.'”Reyes is 32 weeks pregnant. The two took a picture and after Schulman left, Reyes discovered a big surprise on the table.“The tip was 6 — for my due date, which is Sept. 26, which is his birthday,” Reyes said. “It means the world to my baby and my family. We never expected this to happen to us.”Schulman left a note at the end of the receipt reading, "Congrats on your baby girl! Fingers crossed for 9/26, Nev.”Through tears, Reyes admitted she had lost hope on Monday.“I had one of those days where nothing went right for me at work,” she said.Her husband is out of work as they prepare for the arrival of baby Zulia. In April, Reyes was laid off for nearly a month from Smashburger. She felt relief when she was called back for work but said she was “petrified” of the risk of COVID-19.Reyes said the good deed came during a time of need and called it a "blessing." She said the extra money will help with rent and baby essentials.Reyes said she reached out to thank Schulman on Instagram.The virtual edition of "Catfish" launched on MTV Wednesday. DENVER -- The administration of a Denver charter school has been suspended after disturbing video of a playground fight went public. Now, Denver police are investigating the teacher who appears to encourage the girls to throw punches.The April 20 video shows a group of girls at Wyatt Academy in an argument that escalated quickly. The restorative justice officer in the video appears to be smiling and laughing and can be heard at one point in the video saying, "Is anyone, like, going to hit anyone or is this just going to be a…"To which, a child yelled, "people are going to start hitting," before the violence escalated.Community activists said the real story isn't the fight, but the fact that three little girls received Denver Police citations for public fighting, while the school took no action against the teacher for a month — until the video went public."This whole time this is escalating, he never calls for anybody," said H Soul Ashemu, with Our Voice Our Schools, which released the video to try to initiate action from the school or the Denver Public School District.Denver Public School released a statement Friday afternoon saying it is investigating and that they are "deeply troubled by the video." 1248

DESCANSO (KGTV) -- A San Diego County couple is warning others after getting a flat tire from an unusual source. Pamela Jessup was running errands last Thursday morning when she says she started hearing a thumping noise while driving her Toyota RAV4 on SR-79 near Old Highway 80.Jessup says it was then that she pulled over and looked at her back tire. After not seeing anything wrong, she went on her way.The thumping, however, only intensified after she drove onto Interstate 8. When she drove home, Jessup says her husband Davis found a temporary lane marker stuck, nailed in to the tire.While doing their due diligence, the Descanso residents found dozens of temporary nail markers along the side of the road in the same area Jessup ran into issues.A local tire shop was able to fix the damage to the tire, but it cost the pair . DESCANSO, Calif. (KGTV) - Images of an extra-large mystery cat have opened a lot of eyes in East San Diego County community of Descanso.Off Viejas Grade Road, a wildlife camera on the land of Allen Walker's neighbor captured the video one evening last week.  It shows a large cat walking along a trail not far from homes.  Bobcats are routinely filmed by the camera, but Walker says this one appeared twice as big as the typical one."Little afraid for my corgis, because it would be breakfast or lunch ... I was pretty shocked about its size.  It's the biggest cat I've seen out here that's not a mountain lion," said Walker.We sent the image to SDSU research scientist Megan Jennings, who has studied the local bobcat population.  She confirmed the cat is in fact a bobcat - and a near-doubling in size would be highly unusual.  She says any extra-large bobcat is likely a male who has stumbled onto a steady food source.
