DONGXIANG, Jiangxi, May 23 (Xinhua) -- At least three people were killed in east China's Jiangxi Province when a passenger train derailed after being hit by landslides at Sunday dawn, railway authorities said.The train, bound for the tourist city of Guilin in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from Shanghai, derailed at around 2:10 a.m. in Dongxiang county, Fuzhou city in Jiangxi, the Ministry of Railways said in a press release. At least ten passengers were injured.Xinhua reporters who rushed to the scene saw the locomotive, plus eight of the 17 carriages of the train -- coded K859 -- derailed and some even overturned in the mountainous area of Jiangxi. A locomotive has arrived to help pull up the carriages.A rescue official surnamed Yu said hundreds of armed police, firemen and soldiers are trying to rescue those who remained trapped inside the train.More than a dozen ambulances were parked along the tracks.Rescuers told Xinhua at least 20 injured passengers were saved. Four in serious conditions were rushed to hospital.Trains on the Shanghai-Kunming railway were halted after the accident.Minister of Railways Liu Zhijun has ordered all-out efforts to save lives, to restore the railway transport and to launch a thorough investigation of the cause of the accident. BEIJING, April 27 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Commerce Tuesday made a cautious prediction for the outlook of the nation's foreign trade for the rest of the year amid the fragile global economic recovery.The rebound of China's overseas shipments in the first quarter can largely be attributed to the low comparison base of the same period last year, the commerce ministry report said.Moreover, uncertainty in the global market remains as high unemployment in European Union nations and low capacity-utilization in the United States may dampen consumption and investment, the report said.China is facing deteriorating trade conditions as trade protectionism is on the rise, the report added.China suffered 19 trade-remedy investigations in the first quarter, up 93.5 percent over the same time last year. The investigations, targeting Chinese products, involved trade worth 1.19 billion U.S. dollars, the report said.The report also said higher costs may squeeze domestic enterprises' profits as a result of raw material price hikes and rising labor costs.China's exports increased 28.7 percent year on year in the first quarter of 2010 after dipping 16 percent last year amid the global economic downturn, customs data showed.

BEIJING, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Residential land prices in 35 major Chinese cities grew 8.63 percent on average in 2009, a Ministry of Land and Resources report published Friday said.Land prices for commercial buildings grew at a slower rate, 5.54 percent, while industrial land prices rose 2.04 percent.The report's release comes after land plots in major Chinese cities sold for record prices at auction, adding to concern that increased land prices have driven up housing prices.The ministry said in March residential property prices rose an average 25.1 percent from a year ago to 4,474 yuan (655.6 U.S. dollars) per square meter nationwide last year.The report also said land sales climbed 63.4 percent from a year earlier to 1.59 trillion yuan in 2009.Land supply for construction increased 44.2 percent year on year to 319,000 hectares in 2009 as the government accelerated infrastructure and property construction to boost domestic demand and ensure economic growth, the report said.
