(KGTV) — Poway will host two simultaneous Fourth of July fireworks shows this summer in order to encourage social distancing while continuing the tradition.Fireworks will launch from both Poway High School and Sportsplex in South Poway Business Park at 9 p.m. on July 4, the city says."Keeping these celebrations going is more important than ever," said Poway Mayor Steve Vaus. "They will bring people together in spirit and shine a little bit of light into the darkness we've experienced due to the pandemic, all while we celebrate our nation's founding."The two locations will allow for a nearly 360-degree view of fireworks from the Sportsplex while allowing those who traditionally view the show near the high school to continue doing so.However, there won't be any viewing allowed at Poway High School's football field due to public health orders. Instead, anyone who wants to view the show can purchase a parking pass to watch from across the street at Lake Poway. (KGTV) -- Two brothers have been arrested in a string of North County burglaries that occurred earlier this year, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday.On June 11, Daron Davon Turner, 38, and his half-brother, Daren Tyrone Turner, 25, were arrested in Poway for the burglaries.Authorities say an investigation connected the brothers to multiple residential burglaries. After searching several locations in Los Angeles County, authorities found several stolen guns related to the case.Daron is currently facing 10 felony counts of burglary while Daren faces five felony counts of burglary. Turner’s mother, girlfriend and uncle also have possible connections to the case.Their cases have been submitted to the District Attorney’s office, authorities say. (KGTV) — A Poway High School student has been arrested for allegedly making threats to shoot classmates.Friday, the parent of a Poway High student reported several threats were made by another student, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department.The student, who was not named, was in an argument with a group of students and threatened to bring a gun to school and shoot the students, SDSO said.Deputies responded to the student's home but did not find a firearm at the home.The student was taken to Juvenile Hall and charged with making criminal threats.SDSO reminds parents and students that deputies investigate all schools threats and encourages them to report any perceived threats to authorities. 754
