BLOOMINGTON — The mother of an Indiana University football player who is battling COVID-19 wants everyone to realize the importance of wearing a mask and practicing social distancing.Brady Feeney is a freshman offensive lineman for the Hooisers from St. Louis. His mother, Debbie Rucker, took to Facebook Monday with a plea: Take COVID-19 seriously, wear a mask and exercise social distancing.Feeney is battling the virus as questions remain on whether the college football season will be played this fall. The Big Ten announced it plans on playing a conference-only schedule this fall. With her son's permission, Rucker shared his story:My son was negative when he got tested at the beginning of volunteer workouts. Within three weeks he and multiple others tested positive. His university has done everything right by shutting down workouts and retesting the whole team.Unfortunately this virus hit my son very hard compared to most of his teammates. Here was a kid in perfect health, great physical condition and due to the virus ended up going to the ER because of breathing issues.After 14 days of hell battling the horrible virus, his school did additional testing on all those that were positive. My son even received extra tests because he was one of the worst cases. Now we are dealing with possible heart issues!He is still experiencing additional symptoms and his blood work is indicating additional problems. Bottom line, even if your son’s schools do everything right to protect them, they CAN’T PROTECT THEM!!I pray my son recovers from this horrible virus and can lead a healthy normal life!! From wearing a mask to not being able to talk with a teller, several changes have been implemented in recent months.At Michigan Legacy Credit Union, a cashless transaction requiring the help of a teller can now be handled from home, from the mall, or by the lake. They launched the virtual teller app in early July."As long as you don't need a cash transaction, you can open up a membership, you can apply for a loan or a mortgage," Teller Michael Castano said. "There's so many different member service opportunities you can have just from the comfort of your home.""Only 7 percent of our transactions are done by members in our lobby with a teller. Everything else is electronic format," CEO Carma Peters added.Peters said declining transactions in brick-and-mortar branches has fueled the credit unions to push to mobile banking, and since COVID-19, there's been a massive increase in mobile banking."We let members call us, text us, chat us, use our mobile website. BALTIMORE — The U.S. Catholic Conference of Bishops, which is meeting in Baltimore this week, will now face a lawsuit.It's being filed today by six people who have accused Catholic priests of sexual abuse. The group is hoping this lawsuit will prevent bishops from keeping cases of abuse secret. On Wednesday in Baltimore, sexual abuse survivors and their attorneys, along with victims advocates, will announce the details of the lawsuit. The suit names the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops for hiding the known histories and identities of the accused clergy members from the public, parishioners and law enforcement.They're demanding the release of files that would help them prove their allegations that some bishops were complicit in covering up the abuse and protecting priests. They also want a full disclosure of all of the known offenders from the nearly 200 dioceses across the country.Six survivors from California, Illinois, Minnesota, New York and Pennsylvania will talk Wednesday about why they filed the suit together and why they're doing it now. Later Wednesday afternoon, Loyola University Maryland will also hold a public forum to talk about the sex abuse crisis in the Catholic Church. 1254
