Democrat Cal Cunningham formally conceded on Tuesday to Republican incumbent Thom Tillis in the US Senate race in North Carolina that could help pave the way toward Republicans retaining Senate.The race in North Carolina has not been formally called by the Associated Press as there are an unknown number of provisional and uncured ballots that are left to be counted in North Carolina.Cunningham once held a significant lead in polling, but the last few polls that were released before the election were within the margin of error. Another race Republicans are likely to win is in Alaska, where Sen. Dan Sullivan is expected to maintain his seat.Assuming Tillis and Sullivan win re-election, Republicans will control at least 50 seats in the new US Senate come January. Two remaining seats will be decided in a runoff in Georgia. Democrat Jon Ossoff just barely forced a runoff against Republican David Perdue last week. In a special election, Democrat Raphael Warnock and Republican Kelly Loeffler will meet after Loeffler held off a Republican challenger to finish in the top 2 of last week's general election.Democrats would need both seats in Georgia to force a 50-50 tie in the US Senate, with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris acting as a tie breaker on the Democrats’ behalf.The two Georgia races will likely draw a lot of attention as Democrats will be hopeful to gain the two seats in order to have an easier path to get judicial and administration nominees approved by the Senate.Regardless, Democrats will gain some ground following the 2020 election, netting an additional seat after flipping seats in Colorado and Arizona. (KGTV) — The Del Mar Fairgrounds may face increased pressure to stop the Crossroads of the West gun show from selling so-called 'ghost gun' kits at its show starting later this month.The Del Mar City Council on Monday will consider passing a resolution recommending the Del Mar Fairgrounds ask the show to prohibit its vendors from selling unregulated firearm parts, components and gun-build kids. The items do not have serial numbers and can be purchased at the show without a background check or registration.The Crossroads of the West Gun Show, which begins March 14, is likely in its final year at the state-owned fairgrounds. That's because a new law banning the sale of guns and ammo on the fairgrounds takes effect Jan. 1, 2021.RELATED: Return of Del Mar gun show sparks debate"Ghost guns are an increasing problem in California," the city said in a staff report. "Law enforcement Representative estimate there are several hundred thousand ghost guns nationwide, and that nearly half of all recent crime investigations in Southern California include untraceable firearms assembled from unregulated parts and components."In a statement, gun show president Tracy Olcott said so-called ghost guns are 100 percent legal and that building them is a hobby many enthusiasts enjoy. (KGTV) - Vendors from the Del Mar Fairgrounds reopened in the parking lot hoping to make enough money through drive-thru orders to stay afloat.Tucked just behind the security office at the Solana Gate, you'll find signs for drive-thru fair food.Roxy's Restaurant, California Corn Dog Company and the Kettle Corn stand are staples at the fairgrounds. The pandemic shut down all of the fair's large scale events, events that would help vendors pay the bills.So owner of the Kettle Corn stand Oliver Feldhausen reopened April 24th in the Green Lot for orders to soften the financial blow."He was so pumped and happy with all the response he got, he invited us to come and join him," Shahram Naimi, owner of Roxy's Restaurant said.Naimi and Owner of California Corn Dog Company Rick Kasinak opened May 8th.Each Friday and Saturday they're open from noon to 6p.m.They're serving dozens compared to the thousands each day at the fair, but they say it's better than nothing."You know it's kinda touch and go but these weekends are definitely helping," Feldhausen said. He said he's thankful for the fair supporting them during this time and the power of social media."Every week we are seeing some of our regulars trickle in and as word continues to spread we're seeing more and more," he said.They're also spreading kindness. Each vendor is offering a discount to military personnel and first responders.Some customers are donating food to first responders and healthcare workers.Feldhausen said they've made deliveries to two fire houses, nurses and ER personnel. He said they were happy to deliver free of charge.Each owner has decades of experience at the fair."This would have been my 50th fair, " Kasinak said.Kasinak is third generation fair vendor. His grandfather opened his first stand in 1920 at the Minnesota State Fair. His father opened his first stand in 1969 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.Naimi came to the U.S. from Iran when he was 17 and started working in the restaurant business at 18-years-old. He opened Roxy's Restaurant in Encinitas with his brother in 1978.
