(KGTV) - The City of San Marcos is turning to crowdfunding to make up for budget shortfalls in their 4th of July plans.For the second straight year, the city set up a GoFundMe website to raise money for fireworks. They decided to get creative and make it easier for people to chip in."It's a lot easier to get on your Facebook page and contribute to a GoFundMe with one click than having to write a check," says Gonzalez.Other 4th of July celebrations have done the same thing. The Lake Murray fireworks show raised ,000 last year through GoFundMe. SAN FRANCISCO (CNN) - James Schwab, a spokesman for the San Francisco Division of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, has resigned, citing what he says are falsehoods being spread by members of the Trump administration including Attorney General Jeff Sessions."I just couldn't bear the burden -- continuing on as a representative of the agency and charged with upholding integrity, knowing that information was false," he told CNN on Monday.Schwab cited Acting Director Tom Homan and Attorney General Jeff Sessions as being the purveyors of misleading and inaccurate information, following Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf's controversial decision to warn the community of an upcoming ICE raid.ICE released a press release on February 27 about the operations in Northern California in which Homan stated that "864 criminal aliens and public safety threats remain at large in the community, and I have to believe that some of them were able to elude us thanks to the mayor's irresponsible decision."Sessions also repeated a similar estimate in his remarks while visiting Sacramento last week."Those are 800 wanted criminals that are now at large in that community -- 800 wanted criminals that ICE will now have to pursue with more difficulty in more dangerous situations, all because of one mayor's irresponsible action," Sessions had said.Schwab said he took issue with their characterization."Director Homan and the Attorney General said there were 800 people at large and free to roam because of the actions of the Oakland Mayor," he told CNN. "Personally I think her actions were misguided and not responsible. I think she could have had other options. But to blame her for 800 dangerous people out there is just false.""It's a false statement because we never pick up 100% of our targets. And to say they're a type of dangerous criminal is also misleading."Schwab said he brought up his concerns to ICE leadership and was told to "deflect to previous statements. Scientists are reporting that the antibodies people make to fight the new coronavirus do not fade quickly. The new study is the most extensive work yet on the immune system’s response to the virus and is good news for efforts to develop vaccines. The report published Tuesday in the New England Journal of Medicine. It was based on tests on more than 30,000 people in Iceland. It found antibodies lasted for at least four months after diagnosis. The study also found that more severe cases of the coronavirus led to a stronger immune response to the virus."Among recovered persons, antibody levels are higher in older persons and in those more severely affected by SARS-CoV-2 infection," according to the research. Independent experts say if a vaccine can spur production of long-lasting antibodies like that, it gives hope that immunity may not be fleeting. That's what some smaller studies previously suggested.While the research was promising, it did also find that Icelanders are vulnerable to a second wave of the coronavirus even with the number of potentially immune citizens. 1092

Gina Austin could not take seeing the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. She packed up kayaks, jet skis and supplies and headed to Texas where she helped save people and pets. Austin makes it sound simple. But she was elbow deep in devastation for a week. Her first rescue was a tiny one."We found a little Chihuahua and we were calling her baby girl," she said, noting that she worked with a rescue group to help save thousands of animals. "People had chained their animals up so we actually had to go in with bolt cutters. There were dogs just clinging to cars..."At one point, Austin said she saw a family in a steel boat paddling toward her with shovels. "And they asked… did anybody see a little Chihuahua?" Austin said. The family was describing girl baby girl, her first rescue. That day, the family was reunited.  995
