A nail salon in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is rushing to defend itself after an assault at its store went viral.Grace Nguyen, an employee at Hollywood Nails of Brookside said the nail salon was just following standard coronavirus safety restrictions when it required a complaining customer to wear a mask inside. The woman took to Facebook and wrote that the nail salon made her leave after she explained she’s exempt from wearing a face mask due to a medical condition.Nguyen said they offered the woman a face shield instead, and she responded by saying, “They don’t work.” Nguyen also tells 2 Works For You, the salon offered to see the woman after hours for an appointment, without a face mask, and she refused. This article was written by Mason Mauro for KJRH. 774

From California to South Carolina, a former Marine is riding is motorcycle across the country to raise money for Save the Brave.Major Scott Huesing is riding to honor his friend Dave White, a former Navy Veteran, who recently passed away from alcohol poisoning. When asked to give the eulogy at his friends funeral, Huesing want to do something more along the way. He's riding 4,600 miles round trip to raise money for Save the Brave, a nonprofit that's combating suicide and Post traumatic stress disorder among veterans and first responders."This pandemic has created a lot of fear for people and it’s isolated people," Huesing said. For veterans and people dealing with post traumatic stress, isolation is probably the worse thing for them. I think it’s probably the jump off point to where they reach hopelessness."According to a United States Department of Veterans Affairs Report, suicides are on the rise. In 2017, more than 45,000 Americans died from suicide and 6,130 of them were U.S. Veterans."I think right now people want to feel united around something and to be able to hop on my Harley and drive 4,600 miles round trip, I think that gives people a reason to come out and support," Huesing said. One of his first stops was in Tucson, but he's been riding ever since. You can follow his journey on Instagram. To donates to Save the Brave, go here. KGUN's Veronika Vernachio originally reported this story. 1439

A family in Ohio says they're excited to add another family member."We’re anti-gender reveal normally,” said Love Gwaltney. Not this time — for this kid, they’re doing it big.The Akron family got a cake, a professional photographer and a box filled with balloons, but instead of something pink or blue popping out, their oldest child, Grey Schoolcraft, emerged."The gender reveal was kind of our way of telling family,” said Gwaltney. They revealed to the family their firstborn, who used to be their daughter, is now their son. Love says they got it wrong 17 years ago, so she and her son's stepdad Brandon Gwaltney threw a gender reveal party just for him."We’ve always been very open and very embracing with the kids and how they feel,” said Brandon. The rising senior says it wasn’t easy coming to terms with it all."It was a long, long, long, long process,” said Grey.At first, Grey says he wasn’t sure where he felt most comfortable."I originally said that I was non-binary, and then eventually it became that I was gender fluid and I jumped between a lot of different labels before I finally found something that kind of fit,” he said. After the photoshoot and social media post, Grey’s immediate and extended family have embraced him as well as thousands of strangers on the internet, but of course, there are the negative comments."If you’re going to claim that somebody dosen’t know who they are, then you need to stop assuming that somebody’s allowed to be straight then at 17 and it's just the heteronormative to assume everyone is straight until they say otherwise,” said Grey.Grey’s parents say they've gotten their fair share of concerns too."I don’t think it's as crazy and abnormal as people might think, when you actually get down to it and think about it feels mostly like stuff that we went through when we were trying to figure out who we want to be and what we want to grow up to be and identify as,” said Brandon. Each time they look back at this day and see Grey’s contagious smile, Love and Brandon say they don’t regret a thing."People always ask me, they’re like well what if Grey changes his mind?” said Love. “My response to that is I’d rather 100 percent support Grey in the label and the platform that he’s at and him change his mind then to not support him and realize down the road that this is his final destination and I have failed my child.” WEWS' Amanda VanAllen first reported this story. 2445

View this post on Instagram March 25th 2020 ?? We held a small ceremony and I married my best friend. There are no words to describe the amount of love and light in my heart right now. We’ve planned this beautiful day for nearly a year and had to change everything, as we didn’t have guests at our wedding. This was a very difficult decision but important to keep everyone safe. We wish all of our friends and family could have been there with us, however it’s lovely that we will be able to share photos and videos. Right now we’re encouraging the world to hold onto hope and love, which will carry us forward during this profound time in history. Today we celebrated life and revelled in every beautiful moment we shared together in our Australia Zoo gardens. Mum helped me get ready, Robert walked me down the aisle, Chandler became my husband and together we lit a candle in Dad’s memory. We shared tears and smiles and love. Thankfully, since we all live at Australia Zoo as a family, we could be there for each other. To everyone reading this - stay safe, social distance and remember LOVE WINS! Megan and Fadil Lee's love story started when the two were freshmen in college, and it may have ended there had Fadil not sent Megan a Facebook message 25 years later. “I was like, OK, is he single or married?” Megan recalls. After dating for a year and a half, the two married, and Fadil wanted to be a first-time father. Megan was on board, despite being 45 years old and already having two adult kids. “Let's face it; we're all living longer, you know,” Megan says. “And I don't think that age should be an inhibitor for you if you're in good health and you're in good shape. I think that those options should be available to you.”Dr. Paul Magarelli, who specializes in fertility for older women, agrees. “Now that we're living to 80, 90 and 100, the idea of a baby at 50 really is not that crazy,” he says. Dr. Magarelli is helping the couple conceive through IVF. “The uterus doesn't age; it’s a muscle. So, they've done successful IVF and women with donor egg up to age 74 and still got healthy babies,” Dr. Magarelli says. Megan is planning to use her own eggs, but the reality is most older women use frozen or donor eggs. “Once you reach the age of 44 and above the number of eggs that are available to make a baby are preciously few, so most families at some point will use donor eggs,” Dr. Magarelli says. There are significant risks for both mother and baby, including gestational diabetes, pregnancy-induced hypertension, as well as pregnancy loss. Babies also have a higher risk of chromosome abnormalities, such as Down syndrome. Megan and Fadil say they are aware of the risks and are being proactive. “We are going to do genetic testing on the embryos because of our age,” Megan says. “So, we want to make sure that all the chromosomes are supposed to be there are there in full and complete.” These come along with a hefty price tag. Standard IVF treatments can cost anywhere from ,000 to ,000. Paying out of pocket for the procedure, the couple hopes everything goes right on their first try.“We both have a very strong faith, and so if stuff doesn't work out, then we're going to look at that as a sign from God that we're just not supposed to be parents at this stage in our life,” she says. 2232
